Job Description

1 purpose: To drive drug discovery with advanced genomics.

The Chemical Biology and Therapeutics department merges cutting-edge technical capabilities with deep scientific expertise to deliver bold innovations to enable therapeutic breakthroughs for patients. The Genomics Labs, within the Novartis Chemical Biology and Therapeutics, applies state of the art genomic technology solutions to the discovery of novel drug targets, the identification of new therapeutic modalities and characterization of their mode of action. Further, we continuously strive to identify, evaluate, and develop new genomic technologies (e.g., single cell and spatial RNA-seq, gene therapy off-target analysis) to apply them to rapidly evolving disease target and drug discovery programs.

We seek a highly motivated bench scientist with strong molecular biology skills to join our multidisciplinary Genomics group. We will provide the opportunity to learn and apply NGS, single-cell, and spatial transcriptomics. This hands-on role offers an opportunity to learn and work closely with bench and data scientists within and outside the group to design and execute high-resolution transcriptomic and multiomic projects.

Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Learn, plan, and execute experiments using suite of single-cell and spatial technologies

- Help build novel genomics methods to meet emerging needs

- QC and interpret genomics data

- Troubleshoot and communicate effectively with team members and collaborators from other teams

- Work collaboratively with genomics scientists, disease area researchers and data scientists to advance drug discovery efforts

- Present data within group and at project or department meetings, contribute to publications and internal reports

- Teach others on the use of techniques/specific methods that you have mastered

- Take ownership of laboratory operations responsibilities like maintenance of specific instruments or supplies
