In alignment with Novartis company strategy to ‘Embrace Operational Excellence’, the purpose of this role is to maintain an efficient and effective program for the management of material and product hazard information, minimizing hazard-related risks to acceptable levels, as well as prevention of future material hazard-related liabilities.

This includes management / support of an end-to-end process, inclusive of material / product initialization, study management, classification, labelling, safety data sheet (SDS) generation, transport classification, and related process ownership of enabling HSE IT systems.

This role can be based remotely within the UK, with alternative locations as Slovenia, and Ireland.

Your responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Manage and conduct daily activities in support of an efficient and effective end-to-end HSE chemical product safety / product stewardship process.
• Specializes in one or more core elements of the process, which may include product initialization, study management, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) generation / distribution, product classification, and transport classification.
• Collaborate, support and provide process / technical expertise to relevant business units, supporting functions and sites with respect to material and product compliance, facilitating business continuity and protecting the reputation of Novartis across the value chain.
• Collaborate with other Global HSE functions, Legal, relevant business units, and other functions to support the identification, impact and risk assessment, action planning and communication with regards to current and emerging laws and regulations (e.g. SDS Management, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and related).
• Support the HSE Leadership Team in identifying, developing and maintaining relevant GOPs and above- site SOPs in connection with the HSE Management System. Provide information and participate in management system activities such as annual planning, conformance reviews and audits, management review, etc., as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

• Minimal requirement is a university degree in chemistry, toxicology, life sciences, or related field
• Circa 5 years of professional experience in GHS classification, labelling of materials, SDS creation, etc.
• Experience in HSE data management (HSE Management Systems; HSE IT Systems, including enterprise approaches to product initialization, SDS management and related; HSE hazard identification, risk assessment and control; Product registration and product regulatory classifications Supply Chain management)
• Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and operate in a highly matrixed environment. Has advanced knowledge and competence in several functional areas in HSE
• Excellent communication and team skills
• Proficiency in oral and written English. Working knowledge of further languages desirable

Desirable Requirements:
• IATA, IMDG, or ADR certification
• Advanced Degree in chemistry, toxicology, life sciences, or related field
