This role is for a Scientist in a biophysics lab within the Analytics and Separation (AXS) group at the Global Discovery Chemistry (GDC) department in Basel, Switzerland. In this role, the applicant will perform cutting-edge research studying the role of Ribonucleic Acids (RNAs) in a variety of diseases and contribute to preclinical drug discovery projects. We are a highly collaborative group using state-of-the-art capabilities and technologies to bring creative ideas to life.

This role is limited for 12 months.

Your key responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Carry out a range of biophysical experiments using NMR
• Analyze, interpret, and report the experimental results
• Contribute to design of models and NMR experiments including sample optimization
• Suggest innovative approaches and procedures to improve workflows based on own observations and literature searches
• Utilize digital tools to extract relevant information from databases to build data-driven hypotheses

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

• MSc or PhD Degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics or related field, or equivalent professional work experience
• Demonstrated skills in a variety of laboratory techniques, assays, and analysis (design, sample preparation and performing experiments)
• Accurate and independent working style
• Solid scientific knowledge in Biochemistry
• Ability to analyze and interpret results leading to new hypotheses
• Scientific curiosity, desire to understand context and background of your work
• Business-level/fluent English is a prerequisite
• Ability to work in an open, interdisciplinary, and collaborative environment
• Well-developed interpersonal / communication / team skills in an international cross-cultural environment with an enthusiastic pro-active attitude

Desirable requirements:

• Experience in BioNMR
• Scientific knowledge in the field of RNA metabolism
