The Integrated Marketing Organization is instrumental in driving both brand and Marketing strategies, leveraging a cross-functional suite of peers to orchestrate communications and campaigns for optimal impact across key customer audiences. Each and every day, the Marketing Organization will collaborate and innovate to get more medicines, faster, into the hands of the people that need them most.

Job Purpose:
The Director, UX Research Lead will be responsible for systematically gathering in-depth human in-sights into patient and HCP needs and preferences within the Integrated Marketing & Customer Experience, US Pharma organization. This individual will build up contexts for which product design process should take place to effectively design the user experience for marketing technical products. This role will report directly to the Head of Product Management and serve an important specialist role within the Product Management team, helping deliver on Novartis’ marketing transformation goals. The UX Research Lead will help to uncover the reasons “why” to create a product, prioritize a particular feature, and serve a user in a certain way. This role requires collaboration with a large cross-section of groups and stakeholders to develop excellent user experiences and has a great opportunity to make an impact on Novartis’ customer experience.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative user experience research, employing a range of different techniques that are all grounded in one of three key methodologies: observation, understanding, and analysis
• Identify and prioritize key UX research questions/segments to explore, working closely with the Head of Product Management, UX Design Lead and other leaders and stakeholders within Integrated Marketing and Customer experience Organization as well as other relevant partner functions
• Establish and implement an overall UX research strategy, including clear research objectives for each identified research segment
• Recommend and deploy research methods (such as field studies, remote usability testing, surveys, interviews, etc.) that best meet research objectives and accommodate stakeholder needs and timelines
• Consolidate and communicate findings and actionable insights from various research segments to Product Management team and stakeholders within and outside Marketing
• Collaborate closely with UX Design Lead, participate in design studios/workshops led by UX Design Lead to help translate user research insights into product design
• Collaborate with Data, Insights & Analytics (DIA) team on UX relevant areas of insights

The ideal location for this role is the East Hanover, New Jersey site, but remote work may be possible (there may be some exceptions based on legal entity registration). If associate is remote, all home office expenses and any travel/lodging to specific to the East Hanover site for periodic live meetings will be at the employee’s expense. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field is required; Master of Science and/or MBA preferred

Experience:
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in UX research roles in an agency or regulated industry
• Minimum of 5 years of experience leading User Experience research programs, developing and leading the U/X research strategy, and scoping, planning, and conducting qualitative and quantitative research studies
• Demonstrated experience in UX design in a large organization
• Multi-functional experience in Pharmaceutical, Healthcare or Consumer Packaged Goods, preferred
• Experience managing/mentoring junior UX Designers/researchers
