The Novartis Exploratory Immuno-Oncology (IO) department at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) is seeking a talented, highly motivated molecular and cellular immunology Research Scientist with experience in in vivo mouse models to join our team.
The candidate will work with multi-disciplinary teams and play a key role in advancing IO drug discovery projects as well as identifying novel therapeutic targets and approaches to benefit cancer patients.

The successful candidate will be working towards the development and characterization of novel immunotherapeutic mechanisms and targets, evaluate immunotherapeutic strategies, new drug candidates and their mechanisms of action. The data generated will directly impact the discovery of new therapies and will provide a major contribution to the design of future clinical trials.

The successful candidate is expected to perform and excel in the following areas:

•Participate in the design, development, characterization, implementation and validation of relevant immuno-oncology-related in vivo models for identifying and profiling the biologic effects of immunotherapeutic strategies and drug candidates
•Perform ex vivo assays including immunology-based analysis and pharmaco-dynamic studies tailored to the strategy and target of interest
•Perform in vivo pharmacology studies to evaluate immuno-oncology treatment strategies, including efficacy, PK, PD and mechanisms of action analyses
•Perform flow and imaging analyses on tumor and tissue samples
•Document, analyze, and interpret experiments in a timely manner
•Present results within a multidisciplinary team environment

Minimum Requirements

What you'll bring to this role:

•B.A./B.S or M.S. in Pharmacology, Cell Biology or related field with 2+ years of industry or academic experience
•Knowledge of cancer biology, cell signaling and/or immunology is preferred
•Proficiency with in vivo procedures in rodents, including multiple routes of dose administration (IP, PO, IV, SC), blood collection, dissection techniques, and necropsies
•Experience with xenografts and syngeneic models, in vivo assays for pharmacokinetic evaluations, flow analysis, and cell culture is preferred
•Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and perform in new areas, implement new techniques and instrumentation, critical problem-solving, multi-tasking, and good organizational skills
•Meticulous laboratory approach, careful adherence to protocols and excellent lab notebook documentation
•Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
•Strong analytical and computer skills
•Highly motivated, with a sense of urgency and flexibility
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
