Senior Expert Engineering (f/m/d) - Device Technology / Autoinjectors, 80-100%, Global Drug Development, Schaftenau, Austria

Novartis has an ambitious program in drug delivery devices and to meet our future portfolio needs we are seeking an experienced engineer in the development of medical devices. Our team is developing medical devices that delivers drugs safely to patients’ lung, systemic circulation and the eye.

Your key responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Lead technical development in cross-functional teams for easy-to-use, safe and robust products
• Work with third party suppliers
• Write key design history file documents: design input requirements, global component specifications and design verification documents. Ensure device design development is delivered to a high quality
• Manage testing and characterization for acceptance, compliance, performance etc., and suggest improvements
• Perform root cause analysis and develop robust solutions to prevent re-occurrence
• Ensure components are delivered and controlled to the required quality for clinical trials and commercial production

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
• Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Preferably 5 years of experience in medical device development
• Proficient spoken communication and excellent technical writing skills in English
• Experience in designing plastic and metal components; tolerance analysis and math-modeling; lab testing
• Experience in device manufacturing and QC testing or in material qualification, MDR
• Good knowledge in design for manufacturing and assembly
• Design History File documentation

Desirable requirements:
• Interest and ability in working on a broad area of parenteral technologies to support a large pipeline
• Experience in systems engineering

In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is € 52.204,4/year (on a full time basis). In most cases, the actual salary will be higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications and individual competencies.
