2 million people around the world die every year of liver disease, making it the 11th most common cause of death globally. Recent advances in understanding the molecular basis of liver diseases, as well as the development of exciting new technologies, enables Novartis scientists to creatively and strategically pursue novel therapies to help these patients.

Disease Area X, a division within Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), is seeking an innovative scientist to join our in vivo pharmacology group for liver and kidney diseases in our mission to develop ground-breaking new therapies.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Conduct in vivo experiments involving rodent models of liver diseases, including delivering novel therapeutics, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic analyses, clinical observations, and harvesting of tissues for analysis of efficacy.

- Execute standard molecular biology techniques to evaluate therapeutic effect (such as, but not limited to, RT-qPCR, ELISAs, and Western blots).

- Establish collaborative working relationships with scientific partners across the NIBR organization

- Implement established and novel technologies to ensure scientific excellence and impactful results

- Ability to present scientific results to project teams within DAx and in the broader NIBR community

Minimum Requirements

What You'll Bring to the Role:

- B.A. or B.S. degree in a biological or chemical science field and 4+ years of relevant experience, or a M.S. degree and 2+ years of relevant experience in a related field.

- Ability to integrate into a highly-collaborative, multi-person team

- Oral and written proficiency in English.

Desirable Requirements:

- M.S. degree in a biological or chemical science subject area

- Experience with cell culture, ex vivo, primary culture of rodent tissues and cells.
