We are seeking a highly motivated, collaborative and curious Research Scientist to join the Lentivirus and CAR-T Engineering Team within NIBR Biologics Center (NBC). We are dedicated to innovating the delivery of lentiviral gene therapies for multiple therapeutic areas including cancer and sickle cell disease. The discoveries we make can contribute directly to improving efficacy and accessibility of gene therapies to patients. As a key contributor in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team, you will be involved in the development of novel lentiviral delivery platforms which can overcome challenges in lentiviral vector design, production, efficacy, and safety.

What you’ll be doing:
• Conduct and optimize experiments independently; record, interpret, and communicate data promptly
• Contribute to viral production and analysis activities at research scale
• Perform ddPCR, flow cytometry and western blot analysis to assess virus quality, virus transduction efficiency and expression of gene therapy products
• Establish and perform in vitro cell based assays to support gene therapy research
• Present data in meetings and contribute to discussion
• Maintain and organize reagents and stock solutions

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
• BS with 3+ years or MS degree with 1+ year in virology, cell biology, molecular biology or biology with a minimum of 2 years of relevant research experience in industry or academic lab for Research Scientist II. BS with 0+ for Research Scientist I. Level will be commensurate with relevant experience
• Experience with mammalian cell culture
• Experience carrying out in vitro assays using molecular biology techniques
• Ability to analyze, interpret, and present data in a clear manner
• Eager to learn new skills and passionate about scientific discovery and capable of independently conducting, and critically analyzing the research results with minimal supervision
• Excellent documentation and organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable:
• Experience with virus production
• Experience with molecular biology, qPCR or ddPCR, and flow cytometry
