Job Description

The Security Architect for the Novartis Network will work across Information Security & Risk Management, (ISRM) with all information technology functions to ensure our network is designed and implemented as per defined policies, standards and industry good practices.
The successful candidate will be a strong communicator with deep technical skills and, more importantly, a pragmatist who can think outside the box. The individual must be highly collaborative as they will need to influence functional leadership, project and application managers, other architects, engineers and developers in the course of their day-to-day activities.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Develop and maintain network security capability roadmaps and strategy, and work with various other security domain architects to align his/her technology and service roadmaps
• Drives new technology/product/solution evaluations and leads his/her team to identify specific security technology standards for Network Security domains
• Comfortable with wearing the ‘engineering’ hat regularly and drive product/solution Proof of Concept with other security architects/engineers
• Maintains continuous influence and oversight during all phases i.e. Plan, Build and Run phases of technology/capability lifecycle
• Drive continuous maintenance of required network security posture and also own the periodic communication of network security posture status to senior stakeholders
• Conduct technology/capability awareness sessions for Service Management & Security Compliance teams and maintain accountability for governance oversight until technology/ capability reaches its’ Nirvana state
• Keep track of vendor product enhancements and plan for enhanced security posture
• Identify major network security related deficiencies and defines/designs the official pragmatic approaches on how to remediate them at scale

Minimum Requirements

What you will bring to the role:

1. University working and thinking level, degree in business/technical/scientific area or comparable education/experience and a fluency (written and spoken) in English
2. 18+ years of IT experience, ideally of which 6+ are in the Network Security Architect domain for large scale enterprises such as Novartis
3. CISSP and Network Security related certification from industry standard vendors such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, Broadcom etc... Excellent understanding of other security domains like Hosting Security, Identity and Access Management, Data Protection, SIEM, Vulnerability Management
4. Good understanding and experience with Enterprise Architecture Frameworks like TOGAF will be an added advantage
5. Experience in reporting to and communicating with senior level management (with and without IT background, with and without in depth risk management background) on information risk topics
6. High level of personal integrity, and the ability to professionally handle confidential matters and exude the appropriate level of judgment and maturity.
7. Experience of sourcing complex IT services, working closely with vendors and making full use of their capabilities
8. Good understanding and knowledge of regulated industries, preferably pharmaceutical industry. Good understanding and knowledge of business processes in a global industry, preferably pharmaceutical industry
