Analytical Sciences and Imaging, a platform group at NIBR is developing cutting edge analytical techniques to enable new therapeutic platforms to deliver transformative medicines.

The Microscopy and Biophotonics team is seeking a Research Scientist interested in developing new microscopy assays that address challenging biological and drug discovery questions ranging from in vitro super-resolution and live cell imaging all the way through in vivo functional intravital microscopy. In this role, you will have a solid background in assay development, microscopy techniques, and the ability to work in a fast moving, collaborative team atmosphere. What you’ll be doing:
• Design and implement live cell, ex vivo and in vivo imaging assays
• Innovate new approaches for complex cellular imaging assays with input from team; independently troubleshoot technical issues
• Learn and implement multiple microscopy techniques including localization, structured illumination, lightsheet, airyscan, confocal, and multiphoton microscopy
• Work together with data scientists to produce quantitative, decision-making data for project teams
• Present results in small group settings as well as larger project team meetings

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
• BS with 3+ years or MS degree with 1+ year in Biomedical Engineering, Molecular and Cell Biology, or similar biomedical fields with emphasis in microscopy
• Experience in cellular assay development
• Experience in molecular biology techniques such as reporter constructs
• Experience in immunostaining and ex vivo cell-characterization
• Ability to adapt in a dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment. A collaborative and innovative mind-set is essential.

Desirable:
• Experience with in vivo imaging or drug discovery environment
• Hands-on experience with various cell lines and tissue culture procedures
• Experience with large data sets, specifically imaging file formats
