Job Description

The Director of Global Data Governance is a key strategic role within the Sandoz Data Strategy & Advanced Analytics (DSAI) organization. This individual will have the primary responsibility to lead strategic business projects for Novartis Group, the CEO and the Executive Committee (ECN), with the aim of maximizing economic value and securing future competitive advantage.

This is a senior role with responsibility for running a small portfolio of flagship projects, ensuring they deliver business results, and building a lasting capability in the in-country teams to continue to deliver these projects going forward.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Work with Sandoz Enterprise Data Owner(s) to develop the overall global data governance strategy for Sandoz in alignment to Novartis EDM principles
• Ensure SDZ data strategy for SDZ Digital vertical pillars (Customer Engagement• Develop business-focused pragmatic strategies for data acquisition, data integration, data quality and data lifecycle management, as well as for data stewardship to be performed in multiple countries for Sandoz Data & AI enterprise assets
• Work with Sandoz Regional DSAI Leads to ensure clean and linked Sandoz data in key countries, develop data quality dashboards and monitor quality from data capture through to analytics; guide Sandoz country stakeholders on quality maintenance
• Drive global data purchases according to data strategy in conjunction with Legal, Procurement and countries
• Work closely with Sandoz Country Data Providers to ensure good quality in order to support business operations
• Work with Novartis Enterprise Data Management (EDM) partners in IM to drive operations of Commercial Data Governance Council and Brands Data Governance Council and provide guidance to the stewardship team regarding Data Quality issues.
• Provide expertise, knowledge and leadership into the evolution of Novartis Enterprise Data Governance framework as well as provide tactical Data Governance leadership in continually developing and managing policies, roles, responsibilities, standards etc.
• Ensure compliance to retention polices, data privacy, consent laws and any other regulatory requirements.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

• Demonstrable experience in developing data strategies, especially as they pertain to pharmaceutical companies
• Experience implementing and managing enterprise programs around data management and governance in healthcare
• Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
• Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
• Knowledge of data quality practices and standard data quality indicators
• Demonstrated consulting skills, with organizational change concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement system design
• Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally against business objectives, timelines and budgets
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders to drive governance and stewardship within organization, change management, incident management related to data issues

• Advanced degree preferred (PhD, MS) in Computer Science, MIS, or Information Management or a similar field, or MBA holders with suitable data-related experience and background
• Knowledge of industry and international standards. E.g. IDMP standards
