Job Description

You will further improve your project management and leadership skills and you will interact with relevant NIBR and GDD functions in order to test new innovative treatments in clinical trials and bringing them on the market! You will do this by ensuring the steady flow of new small molecule compounds from research to clinical development and will ultimately enable bringing new innovative treatments to the patients.

Role Purpose;
The TPL Director TPPM formulates and drives scientifically sound and business driven technical strategy for NCE projects of lesser complexity, including financial planning, risk assessments and contingency planning as appropriate and in line with the overall GPT/PoC Team project strategy and TRD objectives.
He/She leads, represents, runs and supports the TRD project team and ensures alignment with departments and functions inside and outside of TRD as well as third parties.

Major Accountabilities:
• Define the technical development strategy and lead the execution of activities for assigned topical, parenteral and oral NCE projects within TRD in line with line function and overall GPT/PoC Team.
• Represent TRD as core member in the Global Project Teams for defining global technical strategy for development up to submission and approval in major markets of assigned products.
• Proactively communicate major changes to project strategy, key issues and any other critical topics in a timely manner to management, customers and stakeholder. Ensure that issues are resolved in a timely fashion
• Understand and proactively manage the cross-functional aspects of assigned projects of lower-medium complexity among departments within and outside of TRD
• Set the CMC sub-teams objectives in line with the GPT/PoC objectives
• Lead the CMC sub teams, build strong team spirit and promote knowledge exchange within and across teams.
• Support in-licensing/out-licensing opportunities as technical development lead
• Proactively manage budget and costs assigned projects in compliance with business processes and targets. Assesses, consolidate and negotiate timelines for assigned projects with relevant internal or external stakeholders and partners.

Minimum Requirements

• Ensure compliance of processes with external regulations as well as Novartis internal procedures and GMP requirements
• Actively participate in team activities and fulfil all related tasks. Actively contribute to team goals
• Proactively communicate key issues and any critical topic in a timely manner
• Implementation of endorsed TRD strategy for assigned projects
• Advanced degree in life sciences, engineering or equivalent
• Successfully demonstrated sound Project Management and Leadership skills as DPPL (Drug Product Project Leader) or equivalent
• Good understanding of NCE drug development and commercialisation including knowledge of relevant internal and external regulations
• Strong scientific thinking and good understanding of biopharmaceutics for topical parenteral and oral dosage forms
• Fluent in English and a good site language desirable
