You will play an instrumental role in helping us expand access to our products by working on various innovative business models, helping us reduce the barriers and thus ensure smooth access of essential and innovative medicines for the underserved and marginalized populations across the world.

Provide leadership and drive medical operational excellence to ensure seamless execution of field medical objectives by the Global Health 3rd party Cambodia MSL team. Responsible for successful implementation of the field medical strategy through proactive decision-making and leading tactics compliantly, requiring cross-functional communication and alignment with key stakeholders. Lead and drive Field Medical Excellence (FME) including but not limited to, launch readiness for Integrated Access Programs & Markets’ (IAP&M) therapeutic areas and activities including: MSL training, coaching, recruitment, deployment, management of tools, systems, processes, and health system strengthening (HSS) initiatives. Role responsibilities may expand beyond Cambodia into other GH direct markets as the model in Asia evolves.

• Develops and leads execution of customer-centric medical strategies for focus therapeutic areas in the IAP&M portfolio in alignment with business priorities and objectives and in collaboration with key internal and external partners. Leadership role in strengthening patient safety and healthcare systems in low-to-middle-income-populations (LMIP) in Asia (Cambodia focus).
• Drives execution of medical strategies by, Clearly communicating objectives to direct reports and providing strategic guidance regarding key Medical Experts (MEs), Ensuring execution of strategic medical objectives via customer engagement plans, effective coaching, and tracking performance, Optimally managing and reassessing field medical resources to ensure and/or maximize business outcomes, Recruiting high performing, diverse talent and providing on-going coaching and development through field visits, assessment of reporting tools, competency, and feedback from external and internal stakeholders, Collaborating cross-functionally to ensure timely delivery of customer solutions and maximize customer satisfaction, Developing and participating in forums to share helpful practices and build innovations, Compiles and reviews MSL monthly reports to ensure execution of quantitative and qualitative field medical metrics/ project progress, Together with the MSLs, responding to unsolicited Medical Information enquiries to ensure safe and effective use of Novartis/ Sandoz medicines, Guides MSL team in compliant execution Medical and Scientific activities, as permitted by Novartis and local regulations to disseminate non-promotional medical information; as per High-Risk Countries Committee (HRCC) guidelines.
• Drives local influence mapping and provides guidance on engagement strategies for MEs/stakeholders as well as Key Accounts/ external partners/ societies/ MoHs.
• Represents customer interests/needs and operational priorities with senior GH Medical leaders/ other senior internal stakeholders for product/ therapeutic area prioritization and budget decisions.
• Work closely with Associate Global Medical Affairs Director (IAP&M), Medical Governance Lead, & ERC associates to apply rigorous process governance in IAPM Asia markets.
• Infuses ME insights into strategic and operational plans, and more broadly as appropriate with an emphasis on the rollout of key tactics.
• Building field-based stakeholder relationships, and co-leading launch of Global Health programmatic activities including Novartis Access, Healthy Family, other HSS projects, where applicable.
• Ensures field training/readiness and application of scientific knowledge, utilization of technology and ability to achieve and focus on priority business objectives.
• Delivers clear direction and ensures compliance with all policies relevant to Field Medical and High-Risk Countries Committee (HRCC) restrictions.
• Aligns Field Medical and Operational Excellence with Asia cluster/ CPO Medical Affairs teams to drive operational best practice in Cambodia (and Asia), Implements/ monitors Field Medical Intelligence (FM-IQ) gathering and exchange across functions, engagement strategy/plan, and execution, Implements Scientific Awareness Continuum (SAC) and evaluates impact of MSL field engagements along a continuum of awareness of scientific themes to drive a change in behavior of MEs based on EBM, Manages field metrics reporting, training, and implementation of new FME tools/ framework, Collaborates with local partners, MoH, medical societies

Minimum Requirements


• Pharmacist, MSc, MBBS, degree in other life sciences.
• Doctoral degree preferred (PharmD, PhD, MD)


• Fluent oral and written English & Local Language (oral and written).


• 4-5 years Medical Affairs experience.
• Medical Affairs experience as senior MSL/ MSL Manager/ or Medical lead.
• Demonstrated excellent leadership, influencing, and coaching skills for direct reports and matrixed relationships with a results-oriented focus.
• Experience with HSS project design and implementation.
• Knowledge of Asia Cluster landscape.
• Ability to travel to perform in-field coaching of Cambodia MSL team (at least quarterly).
• Models and creates a culture of accountability, innovation, empowerment, courage, and transparency.
• Ability to courageously provide constructive feedback, coach, mentor, and develop direct and indirect reports.
• Proven ability to foster and develop talent, build high-performing teams, conduct medical & FME training/ upskilling, implement retention strategies.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication, project management skills, strong personal integrity, teamwork abilities, and customer focus.
• Proven record of leading and influencing in a complex, highly matrixed environment and collaboration with internal partners and stakeholders to achieve desired business outcomes.
• Strong strategic agility and organizational skills to prioritize and work effectively in a dynamic environment and from a remote location.
• Thorough knowledge of clinical medicine, disease management, and medical research practices, healthcare business acumen, and ability to differentiate products.
