Job Description

$9.0 billion R&D spend to develop breakthrough medicines! We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our in vivo pharmacology team in the Cardiovascular and Metabolism (CVM) Disease Area at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) located in Cambridge, MA. Cardiometabolic disease is the leading cause of death worldwide, taking an estimated 17.9 million lives each year. Our team is dedicated to the creation and development of innovative medicines to change this alarming statistic. We conceive, develop, validate and employ pharmacological tools to evaluate the efficacy and safety of novel cardiometabolic drug candidates.

As an in vivo pharmacologist, you will work as part of a large interdisciplinary team leading and executing experiments in preclinical models of cardiometabolic diseases. The successful candidate will help discover, validate, and progress novel therapeutic targets using genetic, biologic, and small molecule tools with the ultimate goal to find the next generation of medicines for obesity and cardiovascular related diseases.

What you will be doing (key responsibilities):
• Design, execution, analysis, and documentation of in vivo experiments including pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic, efficacy, and mechanistic studies
• Analyze samples with standard molecular biology, biochemical, and histological techniques
• Data analysis and interpretation
• Present results in team and department meetings
• Complete research reports to support regulatory filings
