Major Accountabilities

- Lead Public Affairs strategy/activities/projects relating to national commercial medicines policy driven by Government or Governmental ALBs that influence the pricing environment and policy frameworks relating to adoption of medicines into the NHS;
- Build trust and partner through external stakeholder engagement to support co-creation of national medicines policy with the aim of optimising the UK medicines uptake environment and patient access for Novartis’ portfolio;
- Ensure Novartis is a leading voice and positive influence within Trade Association discussions relating to national medicines policy developments, opportunities and threats;
- Deliver political intelligence and advice to relevant Novartis businesses relating to policy that can impact the pricing of medicines and their uptake within the NHS;
- Thoroughly map and analyse UK environment for national medicines policy developments on an ongoing basis (e.g. VPAS, medicines tendering, medicines uptake drivers, EAMs and early access policies etc...);
- Identify, prioritize and drive topics that have maximum impact on NVS portfolio;
- Engage and act as leading voice through Trade Associations on national medicines policy based sub-groups;
- Develop strategies and policy positions – unilaterally and through external partners such as think tanks – to further thinking around an optimal medicines policy environment that could improve patient access and adoption of medicines in the NHS;
- Shape, represent, and advance legislation pertaining to medicines (for e.g. VPAS, the Statutory Pricing Scheme etc...) where applicable through external advocacy;
- Map external stakeholders who develop national policy that impacts access, uptake and pricing of medicines, and build trusted relationships with them through positive and constructive external engagement;
- Work with colleagues across Novartis international geographies to understand medicines policy and frameworks in other countries to ensure threats in the UK are mitigated and potential opportunities or transferable policies are maximised;

Minimum Requirements

Key Requirements

-Ideally at least 5 years’ experience operating within Lifesciences, Agency (policies) or Government Relations
-Significant knowledge around Medicines Policy
-Operations Management and Execution Project Management
-Knowledge of Healthcare industry & external trends
-Market and customer intelligence
-Sharing insights on HCS
-Knowledge of collaboration across functions/geographies
