Job Description

Set and lead the organization towards a long-term access and commercial agenda, driving the cross functional team on the sustainable access strategic approach, creating an outside-in culture and mindset able to understand the current reality and unveil future trends of the health system.

Effectively lead the VACD team and drive him/herself the listing of new compounds rapidly into the market for the widest commercial indications at a price commensurate with the value of the compound. He/She should have a good understanding of assets, competitor pricing and reimbursement strategies.

Drive innovative Value & Access strategy development and execution for therapeutic areas, compounds / Brands from –36 months on pre-launch up to 36 months post launch, leveraging the VACD and cross-functional skills to co-create value with our customers.

Closely collaborate with the Public & Corporate Affairs team, on building and deploying the Policy and Government Affairs strategy at a portfolio level, co-leading the 3S (Sustainable System Solutions) program and joining efforts to shape public policies in the seek of an innovative health system.

Major Accountabilities

• Develop comprehensive integrated Value, Access & Payer Strategies for portfolio according to the lifecycle of every asset, aimed at delivering the product differentiation most relevant to payers (eg well-defined target population, clinical endpoints, comparators, outcome measures, utility instruments, Health Economics data etc)
• Guide franchise commercial and medical strategy from the perspective of payers. Understand how payers are connected and drive decision-making, affecting market potential at the CPO. In particular defining the evidence they need and feeding this insight into strategic decision-making structures in the franchise in a timely manner (DA strategy, TPP, CDP, IPS/IDAPS etc).
• Ensure that at launch, Novartis brands are supported by a robust payer value proposition particularly featuring 3 core elements; ‘Value for money’ story, strong value evidence package and a pricing strategy maximizing the life-time value of the brand (including existing and future evidence to justify price)
• Establish and lead a high-performing, strategic and visionary VACD team. He/she ensures VACD Performance reflects Novartis standards, and is best in class.
• Public Policy & Stakeholder Management.
• Value, Access and Reimbursement Strategy for Private & Public Markets.
• Lead Commercial and Tendering Process to deliver short and long term sales.
• Lead the VACD and cross-functional teams to design and deploy meaningful and resonating value propositions to drive access of strategic assets, with an outside-in and customized approach.
• Drive the establishment of a solid evidence function powered to expedite national listing and reimbursement objectives. This function will encompass but not be limited to RWE, HEOR, systematic reviews, white papers, value dossiers, among other.
• Lead the establishment and deployment of the Pricing strategy in Chile following the global, regional policies and local regulations.
• Access team capabilities and development.

Minimum Requirements

• University degree in health sciences is preferrable
• Ideally with academic background on value-based healthcare and health-economy
• Postgraduate degree in medicine, sciences, business administration health policy, health economic or other relevant qualification

• Fluid Spanish
• Fluid English
• Health Management Advance Education
• Minimum 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical sector
• Pricing setting, management, trends and regulations
• Field force deployment (e.g. Access, , Rep)
• Experience with complex negotiations
• Strategic Account Management
• Experience leading people (including managers)
• Marketing and Public Affairs experience, is a plus.
Technical knowledge:
• Reading and understunding of Economic and pharma-economic studies
• Ideally, with experience on structuring messaging and value-stories
• Drive difficult conversations with non technical audiences (such as PAGs, civil society)
