Job Purpose

In this integrated role you’ll set and deliver the Patient Engagement and Communications strategy. You will be the primary link to multiple patient advocacy groups in the UK and develop patient engagement and communications strategy and content for multi-channel communications activities, delivering meaningful patient engagement as well as communications strategy and content. Reporting to the Patient Engagement Lead, you will be required to partner with the communications leads and the relevant business franchise to achieve strategic business objectives and priorities within the UK.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead the development and implementation of strategic and integrated patient engagement and communications plans for priority brands as part of the integrated disease team
• Develop and deliver specific projects to ensure quality deliverables in collaboration with brand and/or medical teams and within agreed budgets
• Gather and embed patient insights systematically though the product lifecycle, identifying opportunities to strengthen cross-functional plans
• Ensure all aspects of the daily operations run effectively and efficiently, identify and resolve upcoming issues, improve processes and channel information, ensure quality deliverables
• Manage agencies and budgets, track progress, ensure deadlines are met, and ensure quality and compliance in communication materials
• Ensure high levels of compliance within both the Novartis principles and ABPI code, working with respect and transparency in all patient group engagement and communications activity
• Act as the patient ‘voice’ internally, to ensure the patient perspective is included across all activities

Minimum Requirements

Key Requirements

• Experience within communications and / or patient engagement (approx. 8-10 years experience) with skills and experience including: Channel utilization, Creative writing for various channels, Storytelling, media relations, visual communication, audience / stakeholder mapping and segmentation
• Bachelor Degree (e.g. BSc) / University Diploma or equivalent Operations management and execution, cross cultural experience, project management
• Excellent knowledge of the UK media and patient advocacy environment as well as good knowledge of the regulatory and reimbursement environment
• Business understanding: strong business environment with Communications responsibilities either within or external to Novartis
• Be a collaborative worker, being able to work independently and through others to deliver outcomes
• Strong project management and organisational skills
