The Assistant Director, US Patient Advocacy, Neuroendocrine Tumors (NET) and other Radiosensitive Tumors (RST) will establish a leadership position for AAA/NVS in the NET and other disease area communities by developing and implementing strategies to ensure productive and enduring relationships with NET and other target disease-focused patient advocacy groups in the US. This individual will collaborate with key internal/external stakeholders to develop and execute educational programming and share knowledge and insights with an emphasis on patient/caregiver needs, innovation, and access.

Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Develop and drive strategy and initiatives that enhance the reputation of AAA/NVS as an innovative leader and preferred partner within the NET and other relevant disease area communities.
• Establish and maintain strategic relationships with Patient Advocacy Groups within NET and other relevant disease areas to facilitate support for access to radioligand therapies and quality patient care in the oncology and nuclear medicine sectors.
• Bring the “voice of the patient” and insights regarding pt/caregiver experiences to internal AAA/Novartis stakeholders and collaborate to optimize engagement (key stakeholders include: medical, brands/franchises, legal, compliance, HEOR, digital, communications, government affairs, and market access).
• Represent AAA at key advocacy organization meetings and events (based on pre-COVID experience, approx. 40% travel estimated, mostly on weekends).
• Manage budgeting and oversight of grant and sponsorship process for Patient Advocacy Groups within NET and other relevant disease areas; lead annual and strategic budget planning for area of responsibility.
• Ensure key activities are implemented in a timely manner and that activities are prioritized in line with strategic focus of AAA/NVS; Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

This position can be based remotely anywhere in the U.S. (there may be some restrictions based on legal entity). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager. This position may require approximately 40% travel (based on pre-COVID experience).

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 5+ years patient advocacy or advocacy relations or similar function/experience required
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with patient advocacy groups, professional associations and other stakeholders
• Confident personal presence and experience managing and hosting live activities/programs
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Demonstrated success working in a matrix environment with diverse groups/function, overseeing complex programs
• Strategic and results oriented
• Comfortable with ambiguity
• Experience with budget management
• Ability to travel approx. 40% of time (mostly weekends) (based on pre-COVID experience)

Desirable:
• Degree subject area in Communications, Public Affairs or related is preferred; advanced degree (i.e. Master’s degree) is a plus
• Experience in oncology and/or rare disease preferred
