196 million! That is how many people are affected globally by age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which is a leading cause of vision loss for older adults. As many as 11 million people in the United States have some form of AMD. This number is expected to double to nearly 22 million by 2050.

Help us reach more patients by joining the Ophthalmology in vitro AMD group, an early stage drug discovery team focused on understanding and exploiting the molecular mechanisms of novel AMD targets for discovery, characterization and optimization of AMD therapeutics.
We are seeking a highly motivated, creative and collaborative molecular and cellular biologist to join our team in a hands-on role to discover the next generation of innovative AMD treatments.
Your responsibilities include, but not be limited to:
•Independently conceive and execute experiments and enable validation of novel therapeutic concepts to increasingly lead to "go" or "no go" decisions.
•Document, analyze, and interpret experiments, present results within a multidisciplinary project teams, and use data to generate new hypotheses.
•Bring in relevant technologies to support projects/efforts
•Contribute to group organization, productivity, and expertise through collaboration, training and idea exchange
•Maintain effective communication within a cross-functional team.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum requirements :
What you’ll bring to the role:
•MS or PhD with 3-5+ years of research or industry experience, in Molecular or Cell Biology, Biochemistry or a related field
•Demonstrable and proficient hands-on experience in cell culture with a wide range of basic molecular biology techniques (e.g. molecular cloning, nucleic acid extraction, qPCR, plasmid assembly, western blotting, ELISA, viral vector transfection, transduction, etc.) and proper analysis methods (e.g. FACS or imaging). Live cell imaging experience would be a plus.
•Experience with high-throughput screening and using automation systems is preferred.
•Knowledge in immunology, inflammation, retinal diseases, or CRISPR-based approaches would be a plus.
•Examples of excellence in team-play, strong communication skills, sense of urgency and prioritization, are a must.
