Job Description

Strengthen the Novartis reputation in the US and demonstrate our positive impact on society by enhancing key partners’ understanding of our ESG strategy, priorities and programs.
Contribute to the development and execution of the overall Novartis reputation and external communications strategy.
Lead US external engagement for key Novartis thought leadership and corporate reputation topics in the US. Partner with the Corporate Responsibility, Public Affairs, GDD, D&I, Investor Relations, the US Foundation, Global ESG and other key stakeholders to create best-in-class communications that drive our narrative.
• Develop and execute impactful communications strategy and programs in support of Novartis ESG priorities and topics, to reach multiple partners including media, policymakers, influencers, investors, future talent and associates
• Partner with Corporate Responsibility, Public Affairs, GDD, D&I, Investor Relations, the US Foundation, Global ESG and others to shape US ESG communications strategy, positions and content
• Ensure video content and plans are aligned with the overall Novartis and Global Communications and Engagement strategy, messaging and brand guidelines.
• Lead innovative campaigns and initiatives to strengthen stakeholder understanding of Novartis ESG leadership, leveraging traditional media, social media, external speaking opportunities, media integrations, internal channels
• Topics to include Clinical Trial Diversity, Health Equity, Climate, Environmental Sustainability, Access
• Lead external communications for Novartis US Foundation, in partnership with the Foundation and Corporate Responsibility teams
• Support issues management and crisis response for related topics
• Develop and maintain relationships with select media and influencers

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is required (Communications, Journalism, English, Business, Marketing preferred).
• 10+ years of relevant experience is required
• Experience working with senior level executives is required
• Business acumen and understanding of pharmaceutical industry landscape, with strong knowledge of the US market is preferred
• Experience managing issues and crises effectively is required
• Understanding of the social media and digital landscape and its influence on content is required
• Ability to effectively manage agency, budgets, measurement insights is required
• Media relations experience is a plus
• Stakeholder relationship management experience (credibility with and ability to interact with influencers and others) is required
• Strategic business partnering experience, and a developed sense of customer service and ability to balance resource demands from multiple internal customers is required
• Proven track record managing large projects and achieving results through influence is required
• Attention to detail and process orientation is required
