Job Purpose
To provide counsel to business partners and other key decision makers by staying abreast of latest development in key areas of expertise that have an impact on current marketed products and long term pipeline of the company.

Major Accountabilities
• Legal Counsel/Leadership – Act as counsel for assigned business partners on broad range of legal matters including but not limited to scientific exchange and nonpromotional activities. Counsel US Oncology Medical teams and management. Proactively manage legal issues via coordination with Legal Centers of Excellence, Legal management and other functions, as appropriate. Lead legal review of plans, presentations, communications and other materials from BU Leadership team.
• Regulatory/Medical Materials Review – Partner with medical and regulatory colleagues to ensure timely review of all non-promotional materials. Contribute actively to medical review team by evaluating potential risk and providing counsel on scientific exchange. Act as a medical subject matter expert for other legal associates to ensure consistency of scientific ex-change principles with respect to marketed products. Coordinate additional support as needed.
• Contracts – Provide legal counsel and risk management on contracts related to medical activities, including but not limited to clinical trial agreements, investigator initiated trial agreements, consulting agreements, and research collaboration agreements.
• Risk Management/Compliance - Partner with Ethics, Risk and Compliance to proactively identify and manage potential compliance risk and advise on appropriate medical/commercial interactions. Ensure compliance with all government regulations and mandates. Contribute to investigations as needed to address potential compliance concerns. Implementation of Corporate Integrity Agreement has applied to medical and/or development matters.
• Innovation – Drive innovation and actively contribute to new strategies supporting business goals. Make appropriate judgment calls during times of ambiguity and can lead team through new legal territory. Pursue calculated risk-taking in an unpredictable environment with appropriate contingency planning and continually challenge status quo.
• Functional Leadership – Actively contribute to Legal Function though participating in initiatives to build departmental knowledge and capabilities by sharing best practices. Partners with colleagues to contribute expertise as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• Juris Doctor or equivalent degree and prior Bachelors or equivalent 4-Year university degree required.

• Minimum 5 Years + experience in legal counseling role in pharma/biotech industry or major law firm. Acceptance to US State Bar is required.
• Strong knowledge of legal issues affecting the pharma/biotech industry including regulatory, medical/clinical development, privacy, and digital/social media.
• Strong business acumen with deep understanding of the pharmaceutical business and related legal issues.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with ability to manage and influence across a cross-functional matrix organization. Strong negotiation and conflict management skills.
• Good project management skills, strong analytical and organizational skills and ability to manage high volume of work in fast paced environment.

• Up to 10-20% travel may be required, subject to business requirements.

• Fluency in English required, both excellent oral and written communications skills.

This is an East Hanover, NJ based role. Consideration may be given for remote working arrangements in the US (There may be exceptions based on Legal Entity registration).
