Job Description

The GNF Structure Based Discovery group is seeking a highly motivated Investigator level Structural Biologist with a passion for applying X-ray Crystallography and/or Cryo-EM to small molecule and biotherapeutic drug discovery.

The successful candidate will work closely with interdisciplinary teams of GNF/NIBR scientists to enable innovative structure based drug design. The chosen applicant will play an integral role in defining the direction and science of structural biology and structure based design within the organization.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

•Provide structural biology support to expedite the development of both small-molecule and protein-based biotherapeutics.
•Work with medicinal chemists and Computer Aided Drug Designers to improve the properties of candidate small molecules.
•Utilize structural biology, modelling and protein engineering techniques to improve and enhance the properties of next-generation biologics.

Minimum Requirements

•PhD in macromolecular crystallography, biochemistry, biophysics or related field with a minimum of 2 years industrial or postdoctoral experience preferred.
•Successful track record of scientific accomplishments in the field of protein structure.
•Experience in the gene to structure pipeline, including construct design, standard molecular biology techniques, recombinant protein expression and purification.
•Experience with protein modelling and computational design.
•Familiarity with biophysical methods used for protein characterization including DSF, SEC-MALS, LCMS and SPR.
•Expertise in X-ray crystallography, some familiarity with Cryo-EM techniques is preferred.
•Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment, self-motivated, detail oriented and organized.
•Strong oral and written communication skills.
