Job Description

1.2 million patients benefited from Novartis Oncology therapeutics in 2020. Help us reach more patients by joining the Oncology Innovative Targets & Technologies (IT&T) group. We are seeking a highly motivated, collaborative and results-driven scientist to join our team in a hands-on role to discover the next generation of novel therapeutic targets for cancer patients.

Job Purpose
The goal of our group is to develop and implement cutting-edge technologies, innovative screening approaches and deep mechanistic studies to discover novel therapeutic targets that will ultimately benefit cancer patients. Our team represents the first step in the quest to bring new medicines to oncology patients.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a breadth of experience in cell and molecular biology techniques. Experience using either gain- or loss-of-function genetic perturbation techniques to interrogate cellular phenotypes at scale is desirable. This position will require excellent technical ability at the bench, a passion for data generation and analyses, eagerness for learning new things, and the flexibility to work in a highly dynamic and collaborative environment.

Major Accountabilities
Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develop and perform genetic screens to identify novel drug targets.
• Develop and perform cellular and molecular assays for target identification and validation.
• Document, analyze, and interpret experiments, and regularly present results within a team environment.

Minimum Requirements

• BA/BS Degree required in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or a related field. MS Degree preferred.

• Minimum 3+ years of industry or academic experience with direct experience with mammalian cell culture, transfection, transduction (e.g. Lentiviral) methods required. Exposure to CRISPR-based approaches/technology.
• Experience with a range of basic molecular biology techniques (e.g. Nucleic acid extraction, qPCR, Plasmid assembly, Western blotting etc.) preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and present data in a clear manner and use data to generate new hypotheses.
• An excellent team player with strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate with others. Curiosity to expand existing skill sets.

• Fluency in English required, both excellent oral and written communications skills.
