Job Description

Director, Business Insights Lead is a key member of the Sandoz Strategic Insights & Analytics (I&A) team
and the commercial team. In partnership with brand marketing, sales leadership, finance, market access
and other key stakeholders, the business insights lead is responsible for using expert market research
and analytics to provide meaningful market insights that enable effective, data driven decision-making.
This position is dedicated to support the Specialty business unit (both small molecule and biosimilar
products). The business insights lead must demonstrate ability to work independently proactively to meet
business needs and deadlines, and to drive company/business change agenda.
Major Accountabilities
 Provide franchise and brand specific I&A leadership: Become the key problem-solving partner to the
relevant franchise and brands by establishing strong relationships with key business leaders and collaborating
with them in understanding their unique business challenges. Translate the business
needs into actionable insights and analytic-focused initiatives to provide solutions and/or recommendations
to enable the business excellence.
 Shape the vision and lead the integrated I&A plan for a business/franchise (primary market research,
analytics, forecasting, and competitive intelligence): Develop a vision, and priorities for the I&A team
based on needs of the Business Unit, I&A vision, input from team and key stakeholders; generate
momentum for a shared collective vision and roadmap.
 Responsible for all aspects of market research of Specialty business unit brands, includes identification:
of market research needs, design, execution and interpretation of output. Including analysis
of syndicated, secondary market data for performance measurement and market understanding
purposes. Manage project budget and external market research vendors.
 Maintain transparency into market research budgets, optimize deployment of resources, identify areas
of improvement/productivity, and impact. Also prioritize data spend (current and requested), challenge
areas for continuous improvement.
 Coach, guide and manage I&A workstreams: Ensure analytics teams (internal and offshore) focuses
on critical business questions, drives towards strategic and synthesized insights, and suggests ideas
and recommendations that enable better decision-making for the business. Work with the Head of
Insights & Analytics to coach supporting team members.
 Lead periodic ‘deep-dives’ for the various brand teams within the Specialty BU: Lead synthesis of insights/
analytics on a periodic basis (e.g., quarterly, once in six months). Work with analytics team on
pulling together the story, ‘so-what’s, ‘what-nexts’. Syndicate with key stakeholders prior to discussion.
 Provide hands-on support on a specific brand(s) or topics, ad hoc requests or targeted analysis. As
needed, play the role of a ‘player’ or a ‘doer’, not just an integrator/director of work from the team.
