The Global Procurement Partner for Chemicals will lead all strategic aspects within the category on a global level, and develops proposals for strategic business decisions.

This Associate Director will ensure best-in-class delivery of external services in the relevant category to support technical R&D projects and to realize year-on-year productivity improvements, cost savings, and process improvements in close collaboration with the customers in the business.


Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Strategy definition and execution
• Accountable for development and implementation of the individual category procurement strategy in alignment with business needs.
• Responsible for development and execution of robust category strategies that meet the needs of multiple cross-divisional stakeholders as well as drive exceptional value for Novartis.
• Globalize and consolidate business needs, pull multiple entities with similar needs, to leverage any synergies to standardize and scale up the activities,
• Develop proposals for strategic business decisions and provide support.

Stakeholders’ management
• Represent Procurement as a strategic business partner on stakeholder LT
• Ensure alignment and harmonization of operating model across the business units, NIBR, TRD, NTO, develop and drive one global policy for services Institute global governance and global review across the regions to monitor category performance
• Ensure global and consistent Geographical Support Model
Supplier Relationships Management
• Accountable for strategic supplier relationship management for Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, organization and execution of regular Business Review Meetings and drive execution of action items.
• First-point-of contact for all vendors and internal customers regarding their needs.
• Accountable for establishment and maintenance of relationships with global strategic vendors, ensuring continuous improvement, spend/cost transparency and cross-divisional account management with Tier 1 suppliers
• Accountable for segmentation of the supplier base and approval of new vendors.
• Negotiate Master Supply Agreements, support adequate contractualization for chemicals.

Innovation:
• Proactively support the business in assessing new innovative/technology-driven vendors.
• Support the implementation of new buying platforms.

Value creation and budget management:
• Accountable along with the business and finance for productivity and savings planning as well as ensuring the procurement participation in the annual budgeting planning for the category.
• Accountable along with the business and finance for the overall delivery of the category savings targets for all Divisions following the target setting process
• Accountable for ensuring delivery against the Procurement Balanced Scorecard measures for the category
• Align with Finance for the external budget planning linked to optimal demand management within his/her category.
• partnering with business to deliver against strategic initiatives and drive major value creation projects.
Measures of success
• Successful project execution by providing all external solutions in time / at the required quality / within budget as verified by the business.
• Value Delivery – right-sized spending and projected savings in compliance with a meaningful guideline.
• Strategic Supplier Management.
• Successful and measurable execution on efficiency programs.
• Measurable and continuous process improvement & compliance assurance.
