The Global Head of Leadership Development will be responsible for owning and enhancing the Enterprise-wide Leadership Development strategy and agenda. She/he will ensure Novartis wide execution of the Leadership agenda to enable incremental business performance. He/she will establish and maintain our aspired Culture by enabling Leaders to role model the Novartis Leadership Expectations and Values & Behaviours. The Global Head of Leadership Development will build external reputation and presence.

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Leadership Development (LD), Deployment and Scale
• Provide the foundation/future of leadership work to contribute to the growth of the ECN as a team.
• Create a holistic leadership development framework which addresses both vertical and horizontal development needs to help enable the business strategy.
• Develop, implement and sustain the Novartis wide strategy and roadmap to develop leaders to fill the company leadership pipeline with strong focus on diversity and inclusion. In close collaboration with COEs (Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Learning, and D&I) and business divisions .
• In collaborating with the Learning Centre of Expertise (CoE), make ongoing leadership development content accessible in a format that is impactful with consistent marketing and, where appropriate, delivery under the Novartis Learning Institute brand
•Foster strong self-awareness amongst all leaders, constant practice and accountability for behaviour change.
• Instil a strong ethos of feedback and coaching (peer to peer as well as between managers and associates.)
• Specific responsibility for Executive Coaching partners, content and approach.
• Develop, implement and sustain best in class systems, processes and tools as enablers. Work with Learning to ensure a consistent and integrated learning infrastructure.
• Have a deep knowledge of latest Leadership Development development strategy including adult development, with a focus on scale and creating a system of continuous leadership growth.
• Partner with P&O and business stakeholders to engage the whole LD community to define actionable targets and ensure sustainable outcomes
• Activate business ownership and accountability through clear communication, network building, and expert influencing skills; use data to demonstrate how LD enables business and people strategies.
• Breakthrough analysis: ability to reveal areas of need, identify best practices and provide insights based on data. benchmarked against internal and external success measures, as part of broader P&O metrics reporting
• Lead data based impact analysis on the leadership development investments on an enterprise level to connect to outcomes at a business/associate level.
• Active membership of the Culture Team as well as the Talent, OD and Inclusion Leadership Team.

Measurement & Evaluation
• Develop and implement strategy to show impact of leadership development and return on investment, resources and commitment to building strong Novartis leaders in collaboration with Data Analytics
• Review and shape various instruments and assessments (e.g., survey, 360’s, leadership assessments and other leadership diagnostics) to develop greater insights about leadership capability needed to support Novartis’ business strategy.

Culture and Energy
• Drive the evolution towards our culture aspiration of being “Inspired, Curious and Unbossed” through developing leaders who role model our leadership expectations and Novartis values and behaviours.
• In collaboration with the Learning CoE, foster a culture of learning and a “growth mindset”

External reputation
• Builds differentiated external presence and Novartis’ reputation in leadership development

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
• Master’s in social sciences with additional post graduate HR educational programs / MBA an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years HR experience with clear focus on leadership, business impact, talent and people development.
• Strong understanding and application of adult development theory, behaviour change, coaching, organization development, measurement and evaluation and change management.
• Experience of work with Senior Executive Teams both at an individual and team development level
• Able to set clear direction and energize and align others around a common direction
• Strong influencing skills – able to land thinking and concepts in a way that resonates with business leaders
• Ability to respectfully challenge senior leaders with evidence-based arguments.
• Great judgement
• Innovative and has a passion to experiment / challenge the norm
• Strong focus on demonstrating impact
