Job Description

The number of countries supported by FRA Operations Team that delivers financial reporting and accounting services, financial compliance and process expertise in the areas of Record to Report, Request to Pay, Travel and Expense and Invoice to Cash. This role supports the Operational Tax activities as defined under the Tax section of Novartis Finance Core under the responsibility FRA Operations in the Novartis Global Service Centers (NGSC). This role must ensure compliance with external and internal accounting and tax reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide timely and quality operational support to key customers for Operational Tax activities under the Tax section of Novartis Finance Core in the NGSC.
• Ensures efficient and effective processes are in place for preparation, filing and archiving of tax related documents, including statutory accounts, corporate income tax and indirect tax filings, transfer pricing documentation, assessments, tax calculations, audit and litigation files and other tax relevant documents.
• Ensure vital IT systems are updated based on Tax regulation changes and deliver accurate tax information on time to local tax authorities. Where changes are identified, they are communicated to the relevant teams and successful execution is ensured.
• Ensure accurate and timely filing of all compliance filings/reports for all countries in the scope of the NGSC services (engaging with external partners as required) and governing system configuration to ensure accurate coding and tax calculations. Ensure the availability of withholding tax certificates as required. Ensure availability of financial data & documentation (e.g. statutory accounts, intercompany-agreements);
• Review relevant tax returns and submissions of forecasts to tax authorities and submit them to country management for signature as required. Ensure tax obligations are paid timely and tax receivables are recovered/followed up. Build awareness relating to tax risks and opportunities.
• Ensure adequate tax risk management and governance structure is maintained in collaboration with Regional Tax Centers. Support the Head of Tax Operations in running the tax audits, in close alignment with Global functions and external consultants, in collaboration with Regional Tax Center and Country Finance organizations.
• Ensure any necessary audit information can be delivered within agreed timelines including IT access if required. Support Country Finance organizations to ensure availability of information regarding net loss carry forwards, book to tax differences, current and deferred tax balances and tax reserves validated by Finance organization.

Minimum Requirements

Job Requirements:
• Chartered Accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or CPA) or Chartered Tax Accountant (CIOT); and University degree in Business, Economics or Finance.
• 5 – 8 years finance experience across Tax and Financial reporting and accounting;
• Experience in managing relationships with tax authorities and multiple senior stakeholder requirements; and
• Experience in operating tax reporting, planning and control systems.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to clearly present financial and tax information.
• Experience in SAP system
• Have experience working for pharmaceutical industry will be an added advantage.
• Strong communication in English
