In this role you will be responsible for the income tax returns of all Novartis Swiss entities as well as other Swiss related tax national or international forms. Preparation of filing position papers and support in the defense vis a vis authorities. Acts as deputy of the Swiss Head of Tax for Swiss Tax compliance matters and represent Swiss Tax with local and global stakeholders for and Group Tax disclosure. Operate as advisory for Swiss tax compliance matters, including M&A, restructuring and projects

Your remit will be:

• Monitor national tax environment and align with local stakeholders to drive quality and ensure compliance with local tax laws, advise Group Tax Team on tax developments having an impact on compliance and disclosures
• Maintain and govern a good working relationship with tax authorities at cantonal and federal level
• Represent Swiss Tax vis a vis Swiss based business units and functions in the area of Swiss tax compliance
• Coordinate and align tax compliance matters with the respective stakeholders at HQ/Country level (such as Funds Flow, FRA, CFO, FSC, business unit, HR, Group Treasury...)
• Coordinate and review the tax calculations for Novartis Swiss entities
• Supervise the preparation and filing of income tax returns including alignment of positions with Group Tax and other stakeholders
• Determine and monitor tax payments, align with stakeholders (Finance, Treasury)
• Monitor the Swiss group internal movements from a TP perspective and align with the Group Tax TP
• Lead the discussion with the Swiss tax authorities in the framework of inquiries, audit, litigation
• Ensure at all times the bridging between IFRS, Statutory, Tax accounts, in all dimensions of P/L vs B/S, cash vs accounting and time dimension
• Responsible for the SOX filings in the area of Swiss Tax compliance
• Support Group Tax in the framework of Novartis disclosures (e.g .DAC-6, CbCR, OECD Pillar I and II, etc.)
• Monitor activities potentially impacting Swiss tax filings, including M&A, BD&, restructurings
• Act as an adviser to Group Tax, Finance and Business with respect to the opportunity, form and content of position papers
• Support the Swiss Tax Risk planning on all dimensions including Uncertain Tax Position (UTP) provisioning for Swiss matters and for global matters potentially having an impact on HQ
• Supports Group Tax and operations with financial data and information, including past events, available from Swiss tax compliance
• Assess intercompany relationships and guide Global Business Units to ensure compliance
• Review of business development deals, structuring/restructuring projects aligned with Group Tax and the Group tax strategy and assess impact on filings
• Support Swiss Planning when engaging with the tax authorities on planning opportunities, implemention of rulings
