Job Purpose:
The Senior Manager, Pharma Associate Engagement, is a mid-level leadership role within the global Associate Engagement (AE) team. This team is a unified, aligned team working together in the pursuit of common goals and in service to our associates, to bring the One Novartis experience to life. The team works to ensure associates believe in, stand behind, and are proud of our Novartis strategy and culture, both inside and outside our walls.

This role in particular is part of the Pharma Associate Engagement team (within the larger AE team). Our job in Pharma AE is to bring to life the Pharma Strategy and aspiration to transform the standard of care for twice as many patients, twice as fast. The Senior Manager in this team is a strategic thinker and story-teller, and makes a direct contribution to ensuring employees know the strategy and see their future. They feel passion to get there (and to contributing to our aspiration and Novartis purpose to reimagine medicine to improve and extend lives). They become ambassadors (all-encompassing) for Novartis Pharma

The individual in this role has the opportunity and responsibility to work with teams across AE on above-Pharma programs and projects, as appropriate. Day-to-day, the individual contributes to the proof points above in many different ways but focused in a few key areas:

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Leads internal communications and change communications for Pharma priorities and key trans-formation programs
• Ensure key organizational initiatives, priorities and transformation projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders
• Work closely with global and country representatives to understand communications challenges and needs, establish and maintain end-to-end integrated communication planning including measurement against objectives
• Drive and develop tools and strategies to engage and inspire a diverse workforce and equip leaders with the skills to effectively inspire the organization to advance initiatives, priorities and transformation projects

Leads internal communications for Pharma’s product and portfolio milestones
• Is obsessed with the Pharma audience and can create and execute strategic campaigns and plans for product launches, Therapy Area progression and business development/licensing mile-stones
• Collaborates with external communications teams and across Associate Engagement to create the best approach to messaging/narratives and cascade plans – with a One Novartis mindset and never works in a silo
• Exploits internal communication channels to serve the audience and their needs. Drives true engagement on channels, not just clicks or e-mail open rates.

Supports face-to-face (and virtual) engagement planning
• Working with the team’s other members (director and Manager), creates the overall strategy and plan for several global, high-profile engagement events, whether face-to-face or virtual, including annual leadership meetings, etc. Including accountability for the process by which these events are planned and executed, including collaborating with guest speakers, assistants, etc. and manages pre- and post-event communications so they are timely, effective and drive engagement

Supports the Pharma President’s internal communications
• Working in tandem with the teams other members this individual will provide support for the creation and execution of some of the Pharma President’s internal messages across different channels. Learns the voice of the President and can be a deputy for direct individual support of the President when required

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, in communications or journalism is required; with fluent English
• 8-10 years corporate communications experience within a global organization with at least three years’ experience within pharmaceutical industry
• Can manage work by agencies or contractors on as-needed basis
• Ability to make strong relationships in a matrix organization and lead without authority when necessary. Comfortable working across many time zones and in a virtual working environment
• Digital and tech savvy with simple graphics and design experience
• Excellent writer for both long-form messaging/narratives but also short, social media content
