200 million! That's the number of patients worldwide who are treated with Novartis ophthalmic products. Our Ophthalmology Franchise is reimagining what’s possible by bringing life-altering treatments to patients with visual impairments and blindness.

As Medical Affairs Franchise leader for Ophthalmology, you will be responsible for developing and implementing medical strategy aligned across global, regional and country medical affairs teams and for the Global Medical Affairs program(s) for the Ophthalmology pipeline. You will lead the assigned medical teams and ensure close team collaboration with key internal partners (e.g. Global Drug Development, Market Access and Commercial) as well as external partners through trustful engagement with key Medical Experts, health care providers and patient associations.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Ensuring high quality and fit-for-purpose activities aligned with global, region or country strategy (e.g. co-chair franchise ISRC - Integrated Scientific Review Committee meetings with GDD Therapeutic Area Head)
• Excellence in allocation of resources, operational execution and financial tracking to ensure timely and cost-effective development & execution of medical activities (e.g. Clinical Studies, Publications, Medical Information & Communication, Field Medical)
• Leading the global, region or country Franchise or Functional Medical Affairs Team, develop overall direction, objectives, metrics and priorities to facilitate efficient team & individual performance
• Ensuring appropriate competencies, effective talent management as well as organizational culture & structures are in place to execute the global, region or country Medical strategy
• Excellence in collaboration with other functions e.g. Market Access, GDD and Commercial to achieve company goals
• Partnering with external partners to co -create value, including trustful relationship with key Medical Experts and patient associations
• Ensuring design and execution of all medical activities according to P3 compliance guidelines
