The Associate Director, Data Science, AI and Innovation will deliver insights to business leaders gained from analyzing and leveraging large internal and external data that will contribute to the growth, competitiveness, and innovation of the company. This position will work on advanced data science problems using modeling techniques from AI/ML to interpret, infer, and make recommendations based on experiment outcomes. The position is aligned to the Commercial Acceleration (CA) organization.
This opportunity is located at the Novartis East Hanover (NJ) site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. Relocation assistance may be available
What will you be responsible for?
•Work with partners throughout the organization to identify new opportunities to leverage AI/ML methods to enhance our understanding of past customer behaviors and to predict future customer behaviors.
•Design custom, advanced data models and algorithms to apply to internal and external data using AI/ML methodologies to increase and optimize customer experiences, increase audience quality for consumer activation, and novel approaches to metrics enabling digital transformation
•Assist in devising use cases for academic collaborations and external publications of proven/tested ML solutions
•Provide technical direction and guidance on implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of AI/ML/data science outcomes.
•Chip in to “community of practice,” leveraging experience from delivering complex ML projects and deliver production-grade models while thinking strategically.
•Build rapid prototypes for Machine Learning (ML) /Artificial Intelligence pipelines systems in collaboration with data scientists and data programmers
•Contribute to innovative methodologies, specifically to idea incubation, identifying solid and measurable criteria.
•Foster joint & interactive relationships between US Pharma & academic partners and facilitate collaborative and scientific dialogue by leveraging an understanding of their strategic direction, functionality and capability to serve as a reliable thought partner to Commercial Acceleration group.

Minimum requirementsWhat you will bring to this role?
•6+ years of experience in designing, delivering advanced data modeling, including 2+ years in leading and managing a team of data scientists
•Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
•Strong understanding of, and ability to program, evaluate, and commercialize, advanced machine learning, including NLP, Neural Networks, and a wide variety of classification and predictive algorithms
•Publications in top-tier venues in the field of Machine Learning, Deep Learning.
•Experience in TensorFlow/Torch libraries; SageMaker, MLflow Spark/distributed compute environment.
•Relevant experience in industries broader than Pharmaceutical sector preferred
•Expertise in customer experience analytics/people analytics, compensation design models using AI/ML algorithms
•Proven self-starter with high standards of excellence and an innovative mind
•Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills
•Demonstrated ability to synthesize information to develop recommendations, and ability to persuade / influence organization pursuit of recommended path
•Ability to handle multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines
