JOB PURPOSE & IMPACT
Execute technical and laboratory aspects of contract and/or in-house assay development projects. Design and execute laboratory experiments and testing programs, evaluate test data, and prepare associated documentation and reports. Ensure adherence to company policy on patient and client confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Works in a GMP/GCP/GLP/CLIA regulated environment and is responsible for following all applicable regulations
• May design, create, execute and troubleshoot new procedures and assays.
• Author and review technical documents including but not limited to assay and instrument work instructions.
• Plan and execute laboratory experiments, instrumentation and testing of patient specimens under supervision.
• Procure and qualify required materials to perform experiments or testing.
• Perform instrument maintenance and function tests with proper documentation of all activities.
• May work directly with external vendors to resolve reagent or equipment issues.
• May work directly with external vendors to procure new technologies.
• Perform quality control testing and ensure its acceptability.
• May identify and troubleshoot problems that may adversely affect test performance/results.
• Analyze data for trends, making recommendations to more senior scientific staff.
• Use LIMS to create batch testing worklists, enter and QC data

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performance Qualification of new technologies.
• Ensuring that Quality Events such as incidents and deviations are proper documented, and for supporting/owning the immediate remediation and preventative actions
• Ensuring change requests are properly initiated, completed, and approved prior to the use of the assay, system, instrument, software, etc. being changed
• Maintaining up-to-date training records and ensuring training is complete prior to performing specific job functions
• Following approved and effective procedures to perform specific job functions, and ensuring procedures accurately reflect activities being performed

Minimum Requirements

• Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to apply principles, concepts, practices and standards associated with analytical assay development/validation and/or sample testing in a laboratory setting.
• Demonstrated experience and understanding of techniques directly applicable to the research services provided by Navigate BP (tissue culture, molecular and cellular biological techniques such as PCR, flow cytometry, IHC, etc.) is strongly preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office
• Meticulous attention to detail, proficient reasoning and problem-solving skills in experimental design, data analysis, verification, manipulation and interpretation
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills
• Ability to operate independently and in a team environment

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

Education

• BS/BA with scientific emphasis

Experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience.
• MS preferred with minimum 0 years, preferably 4 years, of experience.
• Will also consider a CA licensed technologist with at least 0 years of experience as a technologist OR
• A candidate with an Assoc degree and a minimum of 8 years of experience may also be considered.
• Instrument validation experience preferred.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Interaction with laboratory equipment, samples, supplies, and laboratory personnel may be required whereby appropriate precautions are to be taken per the Company’s Safety and Injury, Illness and Prevention Plans.
