The Chemical Genetics group in Cambridge, MA, is seeking a highly motivated, curious, and innovative Ph.D. level scientist to boost our endeavor in the discovery, development, and characterization of small molecules affecting defined phenotypes with the goal of uncovering and validating novel therapeutics and drug targets. We are a highly collaborative and global group of chemists and biologists dynamically exploring the interface of chemistry and biology in initiating, leading, and progressing projects in early drug discovery. This group is part of the larger Chemical Biology and Therapeutics (CBT) department that encompasses the full spectrum of sophisticated capabilities needed to succeed in a state-of-the-art drug discovery biopharma laboratory. This position will partner closely with research teams within CBT, as well as across diverse Disease Areas.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Lead and explore new research directions by embracing a chemical biology mentality to scout, develop, and apply groundbreaking chemical biology techniques, for discovery of new therapeutic approaches, targets, and modalities.

- Working in multi-disciplinary teams to integrate expertise across NIBR to initiate and lead novel drug discovery projects, set goals and define strategy to expedite critical go/no-go decisions.

- Acting as a source of chemistry-focused chemical biology expertise, demonstrate impact beyond your team and projects; mentor associates.

- Frequent oral data communication/presentations across a spectrum of skillsets and levels, engagement of internal and external partners and collaborators.

- Having the organizational skills to design, track, and communicate experiments and data.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

- Self-starter with proven experience in delivering innovative science from the lab. Typically, but not necessarily gained through PhD and post-doctoral studies.

- A record of driving and contributing to innovative projects in chemistry, enabled by outside-the-box approaches and exemplified by peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations or patent inventorships.

- Knowledge of broad array of integrated chemical biology research tools.

- Experience in mentoring, advising, and guiding research execution of laboratory experiments.

- Thrives in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environments.

Desirable requirements:

- Experience/passion for data science & modeling, analysis of large datasets (+)
