We are looking for a hands-on experienced Senior Tax Operations Specialist to support the business with complex analysis, reporting and forecasting, whilst also providing expert advice and business partnering across the ANZ Enterprise including Innovative Medicine, Oncology and Sandoz.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the Operational Tax obligations and related matters and supporting the statutory reporting obligations for Novartis Australia / New Zealand across all divisions.
• Take ownership and leadership of the Tax Operational requirements across Australia and New Zealand, including preparation of GST Returns, Withholding Tax Returns, Fringe Benefit Tax Returns, and the preparation of direct income tax returns and analysis of transfer pricing reporting requirements including providing necessary data to internal and external authorities.
• Review and preparation of tax effect accounting calculations and journal entries.
• Support the interim and end of year financial audit including liaising with the external auditors and various internal stakeholders.
• Manage and automate the provision of routine information to local users from SAP.
• Prepares ad-hoc and routine ‘tax accounting / management’ information and quality financial analysis in order to support global and organization’s requirements.
• Ensure two-way communication with key stakeholders to ensure integration, efficiency/effectiveness of the compliance delivery across all countries. Liaison with stakeholders, including CFOs, Tax&Treasury Team, Tax Advisors as required.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

• Minimum undergraduate qualifications in Commerce, Finance or a relevant field. CA or CPA qualifications are also essential for this role.
• Experience providing tax compliance services to Australian and New Zealand companies as well as experience working in a large, highly matrixed environment would also be advantageous, particularly working with domestic and offshore teams.
• Big 4 experience is also preferred, coupled with a level of corporate maturity.
• Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders
• SAP Experience preferred.
• High level of learning agility and people agility. Able to operate in ambiguity and to adapt to change while developing new solutions, through strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry would be an advantage.
