The Biology for Drug Discovery group in Cambridge, MA, is seeking a hardworking, highly motivated candidate to join a dynamic team engaged in discovering new targets and therapeutics. The candidate will focus on identification, validation, and progression of targets in diseases areas.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Perform research as a leading bench scientist

- Utilize multiple scientific approaches in the pursuit of novel targets including high-throughput cell-based screening, proteomics, genomics, small molecule interventions, viral-based overexpression, and CRISPR-based genetics

- Utilize in-vitro reactions, cell-based assays and various model systems in research workflows

- Develop disease-relevant biochemical/cellular assays and perform mechanistic studies to characterize compounds and biologics in close collaboration with our disease area partners.

- Work with multidisciplinary teams organized under the themes of chemical biology and disease areas with chemists and biologists in a highly collaborative environment

- Report results of studies and make recommendations to scientific leaders in a timely, detailed, and coherent manner

- Design, implement and advance scientific experiments, and provide critical analysis of data

- Provide technical mentoring and expertise to other research staff in the group

Minimum Requirements

What You'll Bring to the Role:

- Motivation and interest to understand basic and human disease biology

- B.S. or M.S. and 2+ years of laboratory experience in biology/chemical biology, which includes 2+ years laboratory experience in an academic research institute or industry. Proven ability to work in a laboratory setting is required

- Experience and ability to learn standard molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (e.g. DNA cloning, protein purification, qPCR, Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, enzymatic assays).

- Experience with standard cell biology techniques (e.g. cell culture, stable cell line production, viral induction, CRISPR technique)

- Thrive in a collaborative environment with excellent oral and written communication skills
