The Executive Director, Medical Digital Strategy understands the value that Digital Health and innovative channels can bring to pharmaceuticals. This individual will collaborate with colleagues across Novartis US Oncology Medical (USOM) to establish value-based innovation, and drive growth through digital transformation and development of new digital products. Crucial for this role is a driven and motivated Medical Affairs professional that understands the data behind these digital platforms and tools!

Working across Oncology this leader will gain exposure to a large drug development portfolio and the opportunity to lead, design and build the “next-generation” strategic enablers for USOM. These strategic enablers will support new ways of working for the medical teams to interact with external stakeholders in a customer centric fashion through new innovative approaches. This position is responsible for and manages digital technology strategy and roadmap, implementation, process integration, metrics and analysis, including CRM integrations to ensure direction, engagement, and capabilities building within the Novartis guidelines.

This is a remote opportunity. This position can be based remotely anywhere in the U.S. (there may be some exceptions based on legal entity registration). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager.

What you will be responsible for?
Functional:
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maximize digital opportunities that will assist the USOM team in achieving their objectives
• Integrate with USOM teams to provide virtual and adaptive training for the teams including digital platforms, tailored engagement with physicians, Medical Education for HCPs and new KPI systems
• Create and implement new Digital Health Solutions assessing current innovate digital tools to build a technology stack to informed by both internal and external stakeholders
• Drive digital initiatives ensuring successful evaluation, execution and optimization across Scientific Communications team including strategic medical conferences
• Effectively collaborates with digital, commercial and medical teams to find opportunities and determine ideal strategies which meet OBU objectives
• Leverage competitor and industry knowledge to drive direction of medical digital strategies, priorities and investment in different channels and areas of emerging technology
• Oversee vendor relationships and participate in vendor strategy and negotiation
• Provide direction and support to all change management initiatives and communication, removing obstacles that slow or block the implementation of change

Strategic:
• Lead and be viewed as a strategic thought leader to the business for medical digital insight generations / key findings capabilities; effectively influence stakeholders and communicate findings cross-functionally to secure management action
• Leverage significant market, competitor, industry and cross-functional business knowledge to foresee and handle potential business challenges /opportunities
• Influence overall medical strategy and decisions within own department and with key stakeholders, and drive business impact by constantly aligning with business’ top and bottom line objectives
• Consult partners and peers on key industry and leading practices and help solve complex issues and provide strategic direction by keeping a perspective and balance on external and internal view
• Make strategic investments by allocating resources according to departmental and organizational priorities
• Defines new ways to leverage the organization’s resources to support needs of the business

Minimum Requirements

What You’ll Bring to the Role:
• Bachelor’s degree required. MBA/MA or advanced scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) preferred
• Minimum 5-7 years' experience in Medical Affairs in the pharmaceutical industry
• Digital Innovation experience having implemented new systems in previous roles
• Oncology or Neurology experience preferred
• High degree of creativity in developing new approaches to Digital Health / Real World Evidence / Artificial Intelligence
• High level of commercial acumen with excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated success in leveraging new channels and emerging technology to reach customers and drive business results
• Recognized leader in medical digital strategy with a track record of innovation
• Strategy and/or consulting experience preferred
• Demonstrated business expertise and knowledge (business acumen) and the ability to consult internally and/or externally
• Proven track record to lead multiple projects be accountable for individual and department results and motivate change across functions
• Demonstrated strong skills in oral and written communication, program management
• Ability to build relationships, collaborate and influence across a matrix organization
• Demonstrated prioritization, organizational, analytical and research skills as well as the ability to conceptualize more complex issues and work on complex processes, procedures or solutions
• Demonstrated experience in working with others to achieve organizational objectives including the ability to anticipate and adapt, own and or/work group tactics to support changing business needs
