Your responsibilities include, but not limited to

•Leading the In Vivo Science and Technology (IST) in NIBR-Cambridge to ensure outstanding impact delivered by the group. Actively contribute to the global strategy and aligned with the vision/mission. Drive a highly cost-efficient organization (proper balance between scientific impact and operational efficiency)
•Continue to expand the group capabilities and contribution to NIBR scientific pipeline
•Aligning with scientific partners to ensure understanding of in vivo needs of scientific projects, coordinate different experimental protocols, setups and the development
•Maximize the value of the organization:
o Ensure consistent and quality training is provided to all Cambridge NIBR in vivo users in collaboration with the attending veterinarian and fulfilling animal welfare standards
o Co-responsible for the Genetically Engineered Models platform ensuring strong globally alignment and collaboration (model creation and breeding)
o Support Research Collaborations and Surgical Models organizations increasing their impact on study design and performance, data delivery and analysis or developing new animal models (disease or mechanistic models)
o Support innovative techniques and provide direction for novel technical procedures
o Drafting and review of relevant SOPs and ensure compliance with IACUC, protocols and policies
•Instill innovation as core value in the IST culture. Think outside the box, challenge status quo and explore new ways of performing in vivo research.
•Strong focus on the professional development of associates and strict compliance with policies and regulations

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role;

•An advanced degree in life sciences/healthcare is required. PhD, DVM (preferred) or equivalent in Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacology, Biology, Biotechnology or similar discipline. Fluent English (oral and written).
•Strong leadership skills, experience in managing large teams and/or significant budget
•Profound and broad scientific background in in vivo pharmacology, transgenic animals or exceptional in vivo technical expertise
•Significant theoretical and practical expertise in animal experimentation
•Successful generation and implementation of new ideas, persuading others and working through the practicalities of delivery
•High ethical approach, committed to high standards of animal welfare
