Job Description

300 million people worldwide are visually impaired due to various causes. The Ophthalmology team at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) is seeking a highly motivated, creative and collaborative Molecular and Cellular Biologist to join our team in a hands-on role to discover the next generation of therapies for patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma and other blinding diseases.

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

•Perform in vitro/ex vivo assays, work with animal or human tissues, tissue culture of multiple primary cells or cell lines, molecular biology, biochemistry assays such as ELISA
•Perform cell or tissue image analysis/quantification
•Design and execute experiments independently
•Develop relevant and novel technologies/assays to support projects/efforts
•Perform data analysis, interpretation and keep excellent laboratory, data recording and documentation practices, as well as demonstrable troubleshooting
•Present plan/results/next steps in lab and department meetings
•Maintain effective communication within cross-functional teams
