The team of Novartis specialists within Insights & Analytics are on a data and digital transformation journey, using analytics to generate impactful insights for Novartis medicines impacting more than 500 million patients worldwide. The team is poised to enable easier, faster and reliable decisions for Novartis divisions across the globe.
Your responsibilities include but not are limited to:
• Job Purpose: Understand business problem from Country/Regional/Global business functions and work on the statistical and analytical approach required for the solution. Able to use business presentations, thoughtful visualization tools and contextual story-telling to translate findings back to business users with a clear impact. Support supervisors in various initiatives like knowledge sharing, support in all business-related tasks/activities, building process documentation and knowledge repositories.
• Major Accountabilities: Work on a variety of business applications including but not limited to: Customer Segmentation & Targeting, Event Prediction, Propensity Modelling, Churn Modelling, Customer lifecycle management and Lifetime Value Estimation, Recommender Systems, Launch Analytics, Marketing Mix Modelling and Revenue Optimization, Price Optimization
• Independently work on various steps of a data science project - Data mining and Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), Feature Engineering, Statistical modelling, integration with AI/ML platform, visualization and result influencing and presentation to partners
• Support supervisor in research and development of new algorithms, methods, statistical models and business models and providing insight into structured and unstructured data
• Automation of project codes and development of front-end delivery solutions. Ensure quality and timely completion of own projects/modelling assignments, actively manage change on the go and raise any operational risk early to project lead/supervisor.
• Participate in various knowledge sharing sessions that enables growth and improves quality of CTS CONEXTS deliverables across the function
• Align with all internal functional operating procedures like time tracking, critical metric tracking and reporting, and other internal systems and processes. Comply to all Novartis operating procedures as per legal/IT/HR requirements

Minimum Requirements

What You’ll bring to the role:
• 1-3 years of proven experience in Data Science. Experience in commercial pharma would be an added bonus
• Education (minimum/desirable): Post graduate (or Graduate from a credible University) in a quantitative subject area (e.g. Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Ops Research, etc.)
• Technical Skills:Statistical Modeling/Machine Learning. Must have: Statistical and Machine Learning techniques like Regression (esp., GLM, non-linear, etc.), Classification (Trees, Random Forest, Boosting, SVM, CART, etc.) Clustering, Design of Experiments, Statistical Inference
• Good to have: Deep Learning techniques on structured and unstructured data, Recommender Systems (content and collaborative filtering), Text mining and Natural Language Processing (NLP)
• Data mining tool and EDA for large datasets. Data science programming languages and querying databases: R, Python, SAS, SQL/HIVE.
• Good to have: Exposure to dashboard or web-apps building using Qliksense, R-Shiny, Flask. Pharmaceutical industry domain/datasets knowledge.
• Soft Skills: Interpersonal and communication skills, Storyboarding and Storytelling, Advanced Excel, PowerPoint skills, Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment, Strong great teammate who is dynamic and result oriented
• Familiarity with Alteryx will be a bonus.
