The Chemical Biology and Therapeutics (CBT) department at the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR), merges ground breaking technical capabilities with deep scientific expertise to deliver bold innovations at the forefront of science.

As a member of the CBT Operations Team, you will be a critical contact within the organization to support lab operations and enable the development of novel drug targets and new therapeutics.
We are seeking a hands-on, Operations Sr. Specialist to help support the dynamic operations of a large research department. The successful candidate must be motivated, organized, self-directed, and capable of handling a variety of tasks in a highly matrixed environment.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

• Establish and maintain relationships with CBT researchers to ensure alignment and execution of departmental objectives, and resolve their operational challenges. Provide general lab supplies support for consumables, chemicals, media, and reagents. Including creating and managing purchase orders and vendor invoicing.
• Provide a key interface between lab associates and supporting NIBR functions, including Facilities, Health Safety & Environment (HS&E), Scientific Operations, and Procurement to provide effective support of CBT and NIBR operations. Be an active participant in the NIBR Cambridge Lab Logistics community.
• Oversee and maintain labs to ensure full compliance with Health Safety & Environment program, Business Continuity, Sustainability initiatives and Compliance.
• Support Lab Equipment Management including maintenance, inventory, life cycle management insights, etc. Support the ordering and installation of lab equipment. Manage lab; coordinate internal moves including new hires, recommend changes for space optimization, coordinate regular lab cleanups.
• Contribute to and support departmental communications and culture initiatives. Including intra-departmental communication platforms, intranet, in-person and virtual events.

Minimum Requirements

What You'll Bring to the Role:

• B.S. or M.S. degree in a scientific subject area with 2-3 years’ in an operations capacity, or 5+ years working in a drug discovery environment.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills, creative problem-solving capabilities, and willingness to work in a team environment are important. Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment to solve problems is required, as well as to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Support culture in CBT and NIBR by being an actively involved.
• Good knowledge of MS Office, with a strong expertise in Excel. Facility with numbers and quantitative information. Aptitude for learning software such as SharePoint and Spotfire desired.
