Come join us in the oncology-focused Biological Chemistry Group at the Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research (NIRB). At NIBR, we are purposeful about deploying one-of-a-kind resources and cutting-edge technologies to make meaningful impact.

Your responsibilities will include, and are not limited to:

• Applying fundamental principles of biochemistry and biophysics toward target understanding and small molecule drug discovery
• Leading within NIBR’s highly matrixed small molecule drug discovery engine to implement hit ID, hit confirmation, hit-to-lead and lead optimization strategies.
• Mentoring and developing a team of a minimum of 2 direct reports.
• Independently providing biochemical and biophysical domain expertise on cross-functional teams.
• Contributing to early target ID and validation.

Minimum Requirements

• A minimum of a PhD with 6+ years or a master’s degree with 10+ years of industry-based drug discovery experience
• Demonstrated ability to tackle complex problems and refine target modulation hypothesis
• Prior exposure to multiple mechanisms of action of small molecule drug candidates
• Working knowledge of cross-functional disciplines (e.g. structural biology, protein sciences, pharmacology)
• Demonstrated commitment to directly or indirectly mentoring and guiding career development of junior team members
