The Senior Expert, Novel Analytics will be a major contributor to pipeline development and implementation of novel platforms for our Cell and Gene Therapy products. As a member of a high performing CAR-T team within the Technical Research and Development organization, the successful candidate will own current and future development projects and contribute to interdisciplinary work across the broader CGT organization. The individual will build strong relationships with multiple functions and will interact regularly with CART development teams in NIBR. The candidate should have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in advanced analytical technologies, oncology and immunotherapy. This position requires strong leadership and management skills, prior experience in fast-paced laboratories and expertise in transcriptomics and immune cell profiling.

Major Accountabilities:
•Identify, develop and validate novel biomarker assays and new GMP-compliant methodologies that enable multiplexing and rapid turnaround times
•Independently design, plan and perform complex assays using sequencing, multi-color flow cytometry and potency assays
•Actively keeps a breast with the latest advances in next-generation technologies for cell and gene therapy
•Drive project timelines and deliverables while meeting internal quality and data integrity requirements
•Implement resolution to technical challenges, communicate effectively and present complex data at internal and cross-functional meetings
•Author and/or review method development reports, SOPs, validation reports and technical documents for regulatory filings
•Work according to appropriate SOPs, GMP, GLP, QM, HSE, ISEC and Novartis Guidelines and Code of Conduct.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
•Education: PhD in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology or related discipline is required. Fluent English (oral and written)
•> 5 years of relevant experience including hands-on, in-depth experience in translational research and cancer immunotherapy
•Demonstrated experience with genomic workflows, next generation sequencing, cancer biomarkers, analysis of large sequencing datasets
•Scientific and technical expertise to independently plan, design, execute multidimensional flow cytometry, sequencing and cell-based assays
•Experience with single cell gene expression and cell sorting is a plus
•Advanced knowledge in clustering algorithms and hierarchical models to study cell population heterogeneity in large datasets and identify novel cell populations
•Strong scientific background and understanding of CAR-T cell biology
•High level of organization, multi-tasking and attention to detail
•Drives innovation by researching relevant literature to improve existing methodologies while evaluating alternative approaches
•Excellent communication, presentation and scientific/technical writing skills
•Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment and quickly acquire new technical skills and knowledge
