Job Description

The Legal Head is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership relating to all legal matters with respect to Sandoz China. Provide legal support to client country. The Legal Head actively contribute to shaping the company strategy by acting as a business partner. Adopt a pro-active, business focused approach to negotiate complex pharmaceutical licensing transactions, from early stage research collaborations through to late stage transactions. Advising the Company on its contractual & statutory obligations, managing significant disputes and litigation, and supporting management decision processes with robust risk assessments.

Your Key responsibilities:
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• General counsel role for Sandoz China and the executive team. Shape the legal strategy for Sandoz China by designing training on key legal matters, acting as a business partners, empowering the teams and driving simplification efforts in processes. Support business development and licensing。
• Management responsibility for legal counsel and assistant assigned to support Sandoz Country and lay a leadership role in the department and mentor Legal Counsel
• Draft and review sales & marketing contracts, Litigation management (commercial litigation, product liability, support to IP litigation).
• Overall responsibility for legal matters relating to key product(s) & therapeutic area(s). Shared responsibility for client country issues with Global or Regional Head of Legal. Advise on public announcements and promotional material relating to specific products or alliances.
• Act as a Business partner in all aspects relating to the Company's contractual negotiations and statutory obligations; in particular relating to the ownership, control and protection of inventions and confidential business information, reviewing, drafting and negotiating all legal business issues regarding the Company's research collaborations, regulatory matters, licensing activities and other significant transactions
• Lead counsel responsibility on significant transaction and/or litigation. Manage disputes and dispute resolution relating to specific products or alliances
• Liaise with external Law Firms (incl. negotiations of fees and management of external spend)
• Ensure local Management is made aware of legal trends and development,, including policies, and shape with management strategies to are taking action to implement the same in their business. Oversee adjustment of all such norms, where required, to reflect local law and regulation. Manage legal budget (if applicable).

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
• Law school graduate & Bar member or eligibility.
• Fluency in Local Language and English essential; Knowledge of at least one other language preferred
• 8-12 years post Bar experience required: ideally gained within an healthcare / pharmaceutical environment, or alternatively, with a top-tier law firm representing healthcare & technology clients
• Ability to analyse complex legal issues
• Strong verbal & written communication skills; together with a high ability to influence and negotiate
• Proven ability to deal positively when working within tight time pressures & demanding clients
• Sound experience in handling a high volume of activity involving multiple
• Demonstrate professional & culturally sensitive work ethic
