The Head of Real World Evidence (RWE) Applied and Advanced Analytics will be responsible for the strategy and the leadership for the analytics platform that will embed and accelerate organizational execution of robust RWE across Novartis Pharma. As a leader in the Global RWE Pharma team, you will act as a key driver and enabler of data and analytics across our business and operating functions and geographies. You will bring an innovative mentality and fresh perspective to the use of data and analytics in Pharma and drive transformation by imagining what could be and designing tomorrow, and lead by example to achieve breakthrough results which inform business decisions for our products as well as support healthcare decisions by patients, physicians, health authorities, payers, and policy-makers. You will need excellent strategic, leadership, collaboration and communication skills, as well as an entrepreneurial approach, to work with and through others, to reimagine the way we use data and analytics to develop and deliver medicines for patients.
As a RWE leader, you will have full strategic accountability, including setting the ambition and culture, and championing for the use of real world data and analytics in developing transformative medicines. You will drive organizational alignment around real world data and analytics, and lead or contribute significantly to enterprise-wide or external initiatives that shape our business or healthcare environments. You will be a proven leader with an established track record of building and leading high-performing data analytics platforms, inspiring cross-functional teams, and achieving consensus from key partners. You will be responsible for, driving functional excellence as a member of the Global RWE Pharma Leadership Team.
Job Description
Major Accountabilities
1. Develop global strategy for RWE Applied and Advanced Analytics that will enable future data and analytics needs of the organization. Communicates a clear strategic vision with enthusiasm and a passion for success. Responsible for strategic leadership and functional excellence.
2. Lead development of real world data and analytics capabilities and utilization, and lead in applying cutting-edge advanced analytics methodologies to generate novel insights and actions in partnership with the countries.
3. Continuously improve the data analytics platform, drive RWE analytics efficiencies across countries, and create industry-leading performance through demonstrating new and creative technology and data sources in collaboration with the Head of external partnerships..
4. Define standards and processes to manage quality, consistency, usability, security, and availability of data throughout the data lifecycle.
5. Develop and address opportunities around novel sources or applications of data, and define how the business creates additional value through utilization of real world data and analytics, and drive cultural change towards data- and analytics centricity across Novartis.
6. Improve literacy in the value and use of data and advanced analytics across the organization by leading successful implementation of data and analytics initiatives across regions and countries.
7. Collaborate closely with head of external partnerships on external data and analytics. Be part of the cross-organizational data strategy body to co-develop advanced analytic platforms at Novartis..
8. Define functional goals and objectives as well as indicators of performance and quality metrics, find opportunities, gaps and priorities, and contribute to best practice standards. Stay abreast of emergent applications and positively drive development of real world data and analytic capabilities globally and locally.

Minimum Requirements

Experience/ Professional requirement:
• Advanced degree or equivalent education/degree in life science/healthcare required. MBA or equivalent preferred
• 8/10+ years relevant experience acquired at pharmaceutical companies, academia, healthcare provider / Payer / HTA, or relevant consultancy companies
• Proven and successful experience track record of building and leading high-performing data analytics platforms and teams
• Extensive experience with analytics, including statistical programming languages, data engineering, technologies to undertake analyses on large data sources or with computationally intensive steps, use of interactive outputs, and/or implementing efficient reproducible research practices such as version control and literate programming
• Deep understanding and experience of Real World Data/Real World Evidence or related fields to generate scientifically thorough and value evidence from secondary data sources
• Preferred work experience leading across countries and regions
• Awareness of changing analytics and technology trends within and outside the industry
• Ability to quickly establish credibility, influence and respect, set clear and ambitious goals, lead strategic analysis and innovation, and inspire collaboration from peers and partners.
