The Associate Director External Supply Organization(ESO) Procurement - Americas will support the execution of cross-divisional strategies for the ESO category the assigned ESO category. Complete search and evaluations to support implementation of new external manufacturing solutions. Support relevant global category manager in developing sub-category strategies across NBS. Accountable for delivering savings targets. This role will ensure appropriate engagement and alignment with main Rx/Gx stakeholders strengthening relationship with key stakeholders and leveraging potential synergies. Critical member of Supplier Relationship Team (SRT) to drive value creation and cost improvement initiatives.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Operational Excellence:

•Identify, negotiate, and deliver targeted savings and PPV, develop mutually beneficial supplier relationships aligned with tactical procurement interfaces across Rx and Gx/AGx ESO supply network team. Track savings achieved and projected both on a year on year basis plus identify Purchase Price variance impacts
•Proactively scope, initiate and lead cost efficiency projects in collaboration with functional business stakeholders (e.g. SRMs, MS&T, Distribution, Quality and Product Development) to reduce costs in ESO procurement spend. Lead workshops, meetings, conference calls etc. covering all facets of 3rd party contract management. Drive generation of savings in collaboration with SRM through value creation / SSI+ and other initiatives.
•Fully accountable for delivery of the regional savings targets and pipeline generation, following engagement of target setting process.
•Understands and leverages knowledge of company’s and competitors’ products, industry trends and superior business practices to achieve competitive advantage.
•Contribute to standard and custom reports for Novartis senior management outlining various strategic, operational and performance measures or accomplishments.

Network and Category Strategy:

•Actively work with appropriate Global Category Lead to deploy category strategy; plan and execute strategic negotiations. Benchmark 3rd party supplier costs within the industry/supplier network and use the data to drive negotiation strategies. Review existing and potential contractual arrangements to ensure maximization of Novartis/Sandoz benefit.
•Responsible for the development and execution of complex Search and Evaluation projects, which may be cross-functional. Prepare business cases for decision-making. Support due diligence.
•Select source of supply through effective collaboration with the global procurement to establish opportunities and alignment, lead commercial and contractual negotiations, and communicate decisions to key stakeholders.
•Actively work with the Business Development and Licensing team to frame pricing and contractual terms that optimize Technical Operations/Supply Chain arrangements. Review insourcing/alternate sourcing opportunities for service/cost optimization.

Contract Management:

•Negotiation of manufacturing, supply, and packaging agreements, specifically on pricing, and provide coordination for all other agreements connected (QA, TSP). Adheres to all applicable company procedures and policies (Finance, Health & Safety, HR, Information Technology, etc.) and any other regulatory requirements related to the Pharmaceutical Industry (GMP, etc
•Maintain the Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) database and prepare key term sheets to highlight agreements, milestones and main clauses. Monitor contract compliance to agreed terms including Responsible Procurement.
