Job Purpose

As a business, we have committed to ensuring that 100% of our phase 2 and 3 clinical trials will assess and, as appropriate, implement a diversity and inclusion strategy in their design and execution. The Global Insights Associate Director, D&I will be responsible for delivering the data-driven insights necessary for increasing the participation of under-represented populations in Novartis clinical trials and for operationalizing the Novartis D&I Strategy in GDD. Applying AI techniques and leveraging state of the art Novartis Cognitive Intelligence platform (CLIP), the Global Insights Associate Director, D&I will drive high quality recommendations into the Strategic Planning and Feasibility process infused by patient level data, epidemiology and informatics.We believe that investing in and focusing on how we execute against the ESG benchmarks is not only critical to achieving the ambitious goals we set out in our GDD 2025 strategic ambition, but is also the right thing to do to reimagine medicine for our patients

1. As core member of the Diversity & Inclusion in Clinical Trials (DICT) team, gain deep understanding of the domain and core processes in order to demonstrate Data Science to business problem solving
2. Establish DICT benchmarking methodology based on market and customer insights in order to identify standard methodologies, and understand current performance, gaps, and areas of opportunity
3. Build internal awareness on the importance of D&I in clinical trials in collaboration with Strategic Planning & Feasibility and other Health Insights colleagues
4. Educate and equip Program/Trial Feadibility team members’ understanding of disease disparities and the effects on diverse populations such that DICT becomes the new mentality and a sustainable way of working
5. Act as D&I inspiring leader and subject matter expert for GDD; reveal areas of need, identify standard methodologies and provide insights based on data.
6. Gather and analyze large datasets, identify key analytical opportunities and models
7. Ensure adherence and compliance with Novartis standards and guidelines
8. Ensure quality control and audit readiness of analytic solutions

Minimum Requirements

Ideal Background (State the preferred education and experience level)
• Bachelors, Masters, PhD, or equivalent experience in Life Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Medical Informatics, or Computer Science, Operations Research, BTech, MTech, BCA, MCA. Data Science PG courses from ISB, IIM’s, ISI, Great Lakes or any other relevant courses. (preferred)
• 5+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology industry, or a Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related subject area preferred
• Minimum 3 years of Industry experience in Predictive Modelling, advanced analytics and Data Science preferred
• Strong background in one or more of: Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Recommendation Systems, Pattern Recognition, Large Scale Data Mining or Artificial Intelligence.
• Experience with relational databases NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Elastic Search, Redis or any graph database and fine tuning and programming experience in Python, R
