Assurance Manager (IFRS reporting and ICFR), Novartis, Prague, Czech Republic

Your key responsibilities:
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Independently execute high quality and insightful reviews of financial statements and internal control of reporting units if in accordance with Group controls framework and Group accounting policy (end to end: planning, staffing, execution, completion, reporting, coaching and guiding the team members, effective stakeholders management);
• Perform risk assessment and consider the impact of possible changes in the external environment and within business model that may render internal control ineffective, proactively challenge the status quo with the right and straight to the point questions focusing on major risks;
• Effectively identify business risks that could reasonably be expected to result in material misstatement of the financial statements;
• Provide holistic and value added recommendations to mitigate the risks, to remediate processes gaps and control deficiencies, to introduce control procedures in a specific area to ensure that a misstatement or omission in financial statements is prevented or detected by controls on a timely basis. Identify root causes of issues and recommend controls or business process improvements.
• Establish business partnership with the all the relevant stakeholders – Business, Global Process Owners, with the NGSCs, FSCs and other relevant functions / domains in order to support development of the holistic remediation solutions;
• Establish productive partnership with functions of 2nd and 3d lines of defense to deliver joint assurance effectively;
• Clear understanding of accountability for the identification of the major risks, that might lead to material misstatements, significant deficiencies or material weaknesses in internal control;
• Drive the mindset for unbiased, holistic view on the state of internal control and lead and/or contribute to ad hoc projects of the GFC&C team, suggest improvements and proactively drive their implementation.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

• University Degree in Economics or Business Administration (or equivalent), specializing in Finance/Accounting/Auditing and apropriate financial qualification ACCA, CPA (or equivalent)
• Min 8-10 years in Big 4 (Assurance/External audit practice) and excellent knowledge of IFRS, SOX/ICFR and solid knowledge of the external audit methodology (including risk-based approach when planning reviews)
• Remarkable ability to establish strong business partnership and effectively communicate with and provide recommendations to senior management, ability to proactively collaborate across all levels of the organization is a must.
• Excellent project management skills, including ability to manage the work of team up to 10-15 people and good business reports writing skills and fluent in English (written and spoken)
• People management experience, including ability to influence behaviors and help them thrive to achieve high quality results
• Result driven, being able to perform in a challenging environment and team player, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to successfully manage conflict

Desirable requirements:
• Pharma industry and shared services experience is a plus
