With over 400 active trials in 5 hub countries, Novartis GDO Trial Management feels privileged to bring together and manage all aspects of clinical trial operations reaching around 50,000 patients worldwide.

Leads the strategic and operational planning and management of the assigned clinical program(s) from an end-to-end clinical operations perspective. Complete oversight of budget and resource allocation for the assigned programs. Drives operational excellence through process improvement and knowledge sharing across the function. Enables an empowered organization which can navigate in a matrix environment and adjust quickly to business needs.

- Provides clinical leadership and strategic guidance for all clinical deliverables in the assigned section of a clinical program or programs.
- Complete oversight of budget and resource allocation within the assigned area. Manages resources cross units and/or global projects which may involve managing large teams across multiple sites worldwide
- Provide oversight on quality and compliance for assigned clinical program(s)
- People management role with responsibility for a broad functional /technical area or a large sub-function.
- Builds best talent and an empowered culture within program(s) and DU to foster high performance in a matrix environment. Assess needs of the organization to improve the medical/scientific, operational and budget management capabilities in assigned franchise, in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
- May serve on or lead global initiatives (e.g. process improvement, training, SOP development, other clinical development line function initiatives)

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:


• Advanced degree or equivalent education/degree in life science/healthcare preferred (PhD/MD preferred).


• Fluent English (oral and written)


• ≥10 years of pharmaceutical clinical research experience.
• ≥5 years people management and development experience required, this may include management in a matrix environment. Global people management experience is desirable.
• Demonstrated leadership and accomplishment in all aspects of conducting global clinical trials and programs.
• Extensive knowledge of clinical development process, GCP and clinical project management. Novartis experience in these areas is preferred.
• Organizational awareness, including significant experience working cross-functionally and in global teams.
• Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• Proven track record in trial operations process improvement(s).
• Proven record of managing resource including planning (budget and headcount).
• Proven track record in trial operations process improvement(s).
• Strong knowledge of appropriate therapeutic area preferred.
