Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative scientist with experience in cell and molecular biology to work with our team to evaluate cancer drug candidates in preclinical and clinical stages of development. The successful candidate will work with limited supervision as part of a highly dynamic cross-functional team and be responsible for evaluating, validating and advancing candidate cancer drugs.

•Articulate key scientific questions; generate testable hypothesis; design and optimize relevant protocols to test hypothesis; independently summarize, analyze and present work to project and senior leadership teams; document data using ELN
•Evaluate the anti-proliferation efficacy of Novartis cancer drug candidates as a single agent or in combination with additional agents in cancer cell lines
•Study resistance mechanism to Novartis cancer drug candidates via generating in vitro acquired resistance models and perform genetic as well as pharmacological perturbation screens to elucidate mechanisms that predict sensitivity and/or resistance
•Study pharmacodynamic (PD) effects of cancer drug candidates and evaluate/optimize corresponding clinical PD assays
•Perform mechanism-of-action studies, including analysis of gene expression, chromatin modulation, protein levels, pathway expression, complex formation and target activity levels, to validate and advance targets

Minimum requirements

Desirable Requirements:
•Required Skills
•BS/MS in Molecular or Cell Biology, or related field, with a minimum of three years relevant industry experience, or equivalent academic experience
•Expertise with mammalian cell culture techniques
•Expertise with molecular and cell biology techniques including plasmid-based DNA cloning and CRISPR-based gene editing, virus-based gene delivery for stable cell line generation
•Experience with cell-based assays such as Cell titer glow, CaspaseGlo apoptosis assay
•Experience with protein detection methods (e.g. Western immunoblot, ELISA, MSD, immunoprecipitation) and DNA/RNA isolation, RNA quantification (e.g. real time qRT PCR)
•Experience with chromatin IP and flow cytometry are favorably considered
•Experience with various software and bioinformatics tools including MS Excel, GraphPad Prism, TIBCO Spotfire, ComboModule, and VectorNTI
•Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills are essential
•Knowledge of cancer biology pathways is a plus
