NIBR Oncology is seeking an experienced software engineer with domain knowledge in bioinformatics to help develop applications to marshal, transform and visualize complex data sets from the pre-clinical and clinical research space, including phenotypic, genotypic and other biological markers. While exciting, this sometimes presents a challenge—and we want you to help! Specifically, in this hands-on role, you will collaboratively architect and design new software solutions that accelerate the work of our data scientists. You will also lead or contribute to efforts to enhance and improve existing systems. You will work within a larger Engineering team following Agile practices and collaborate closely with end-users to deliver the most impactful solutions possible. You should have a strong software engineering background and an understanding of the scientific domain.

Job Responsibilities:

•Extend and enhance current web-based visualization and analytics tools for future use
•Design and architect new solutions to enable data visualization, analysis and reporting to support data scientists
•Research and recommend innovative new technologies, methods and systems to process, store and visualize data
•Contribute to a culture of strong engineering practices in a globally distributed, cross-site team
•Collaborate and interact with scientists and stakeholders to understand the problem domain and identify opportunities to accelerate their work

Minimum requirements

Minimum requirements
•B.S./M.S. in computer science or bioinformatics, with 7-10 years’ software engineering experience on new and pre-existing projects
•Domain knowledge in bioinformatics and experience collaborating directly with data scientists and stakeholders
•Strong track record in designing and delivering software solutions for scientific data processing and visualization
•Experience architecting robust, maintainable and scalable multi-tier solutions
•Ability to identify the most impactful new technologies and champion their adoption
•Expertise with some combination of Java, Javascript, Python, R, AWS, modern web frameworks, database development
•Experience working in an Agile team, using CI/CD, Jenkins, git, JIRA and Confluence. Experience with Scrum practices a plus
